Story of Apple as a sponsor:
In the 80's Garretson Enterprises was working on Steve Wozniak's 928, Steve Jobs 356 and the Apple Media guys 911. One day Bob Garretson was at the shop after work one day and the media guy and Jobs were there and Bob being blunt like he always is he said you guys should be a sponsor for the race car. If you know the Garretson Enterprises story Bob just talked like that so it was not because he was any more excited about Apple than he was anybody else that he could get to sponsor or help.

Jobs didn't seem super excited but the media guy did. So they left and the media guy talked to Wozniak and Jobs and they decided to sponsor. It wasn't a ton of money to where Garretson was jumping up and down, but he figured it might bring excitement to the team, so he thought it was worth his time.

That is how Apple ended up on a race car for the only time.
