Please read the whole thing 🫶🏼
This is a hard post for us to make.
We’ve put a lot of time, money, and heart into this place, and we truly wanted to keep the store operating the way it has been. Unfortunately, since we had to stop selling grocery items, our sales have taken a serious hit. At this point, we simply can’t afford to continue losing money every month trying to operate the store the same way.
Because of that, we’ve made the difficult decision to close down the regular store operation for now while we save the money needed to replace the septic system and water well.
That does not mean we’re completely going away.
We will still operate the hangout, and we’ll do our best to continue helping people in the community get the things they need. Our hours will be different, and the amount of stock we keep on hand will be different, so we ask everyone to please be patient with us as we figure out what works during this transition.
We don’t look at this as the end.
Our goal is to spend the next 6–12 months saving, making the necessary repairs and improvements, and hopefully coming back better than before. When we do, our hope is to have everything in place so we can serve fresh cooked food and offer more to the community than we’ve been able to recently.
We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who has supported us, shopped with us, stopped by to visit, and encouraged us along the way. We hate having to make this change, but continuing to lose money just to keep things the same isn’t something we can sustain.
Sometimes you have to take a step back so you can move forward the right way.
We’re still here, we’ll still do what we can for our community, and hopefully this is just the beginning of the next chapter.
Thank y’all for all the support. ❤️
Last day December 2nd.
Shady Acres Hangout will still be in operation.
