A VT blue line exploration day in a cold rain over the weekend. Fishing my way up the side of a steep rivulet pouring off the steep western edge up the Berkshires, I plucked 3-4" wild brook trout from plunge pools surging with surface water runoff. At the top end of a modest gorge section I hooked a slightly larger fish that looked different. I scooped it up in my wet hand and saw it was a wild brown trout. Never found a brown so far up in a tiny brook trout stream in VT. The brown had a dark appearance with little blotches like parr markings, but appeared to be an adult fish. I let it go and had to just wonder, how did you end up here living on top of this mountain?
