Introducing our June Employee Highlight, Dan Farmstead!
What started out as a summer job between college semesters has evolved into a 34-year career at Montana Silversmiths. Whether he’s receiving inventory from the dock or delivering packages around the plant, you can find Dan Farmstead with a smirk on his face and a joke ready to share.
Dan was born and raised in Absarokee, playing football, basketball and running track while growing up. Aside from attending college at Jamestown College and Northwest College in Wyoming, he has remained deeply rooted in the Stillwater Valley. He returned home to start his family and all four of his children graduated as Absarokee Huskies. Fun fact, three of his four kids have been employed at Montana Silversmiths at one point or another!
Although Dan currently leads Receiving, Purchasing, and Logistics, he has worn many hats throughout his career. He began in the buffing room before moving into plating, then transitioned to receiving. From there, he worked in the Billings warehouse supporting the Lifestyle line and later managed Lifestyle logistics back in Columbus. Today, he has come full circle, bringing his broad experience and expertise back to Receiving.
Outside of work, Dan stays busy helping operate a ranch near Absarokee, leaving little room for traditional hobbies. Dan considers yardwork and home improvements for himself and his kids as his extracurricular activities. He also enjoys traveling and has checked destinations such as Scotland and London off his bucket list, with hopes of exploring even more of Europe in the future. Above all, Dan treasures time spent with his five grandchildren, whom he says bring him the greatest joy.
Dan is a traditional, hardworking individual who believes that dedication, perseverance, and gratitude are the keys to success. For more than three decades, he has been a valued member of the Montana Silversmiths family, not only for his work ethic and experience, but also for the humor and positivity he brings to those around him. We are grateful for Dan’s many contributions over the years and appreciate the laughter he delivers right alongside the packages.
