What do Public Lands mean to you?
Public Lands offer recreation and resource protection, but I view the privilege to enjoy them as a responsibility, not a right. Throughout my life, I've utilized Public Lands for hunting, fishing, recreation, and work. While these lands provide numerous benefits, sustainable stewardship is vital for their continued prosperity. Witnessing abuse, like littering and disrespect, has motivated me to engage in local and national issues to address these concerns.
How do you plan to celebrate National Public Lands Day?
I plan to spend National Public Lands Day either in the National Forest chasing Elk with my bow or hiking the hills for grouse & partridge with my dog Lefty in tow.
How do you advocate for the outdoors and public spaces in your community?
I actively participate in conservation groups like TRCP and BHA to stay informed about current Public Land issues. I also use social media to voice concerns about wildlife encroachment and legislation that may harm certain species and public areas.
How can we unify around Public Land access?
We can unite around Public Lands by recognizing a shared purpose among all communities and groups involved. These lands are meant for public use, and everyone can contribute through waterfowl or habitat stamps. Additionally, site cleanups and river restorations can further benefit these areas.
What do you hope for the future of our Public Lands?
I hope one day we can collaborate with ranchers, farmers, government officials, and conservation agencies to establish a sustainable balance between wildlife preservation and effective land management. By advocating for these dedicated areas, we can ensure they remain public and available for generations to enjoy.
How can individuals support local Public Land protection?
Staying informed about current issues is just a Google search away. Numerous local and statewide groups like TRCP, Wyoming Wildlife Federation, and BHA in Wyoming, among others, provide updates on local and federal issues and bills. They also advocate for wildlife and Public Lands.
