Could not be more excited about this new addition to my ! A 1980s dresser that is perfectly new again with modern styling and tons of capacity to hold so much fabric in a way that’s easy to see and access.

Love it!!

New Skills

Oh man!! So many to chose from. It seems I’m constantly learning (and relearning!)!

But this was a cool project with lots of new skills! Most notably, curves and foundation paper piecing! Super fun!

Quilts in the Wild

Quilts in the Wild can be counted amount the reasons I quilt! I LOVE taking quilts out in search of amazing photo ops.

This is one of my very favorite outings from the last year.

Marc and I took a favorite quilt up to

When we arrived in the early morning, the weather was dry but rain was forecast midday. The trailhead was attended by a park employee who started to warn us of the risk of flash flooding but then stopped and looked at Marc’s giant backpack and said instead, “I can see you’re prepared for anything! Have a good hike!” Little did he know that the entire pack was full of a big quilt!! 😹😹😹

We had an absolutely beautiful day moving through the river and slot canyons and showering under the falls (hoping a log wouldn’t clunk us on the head).

Memories I will never forget! And we really only made a priority of going on this hike to take the quilt out!

So! Much! Fun!

Thanks to for always being up for darn near anything! Thanks to for creating the reason to share.

Favorite Quilt

My favorite quilt (other than Falling Leaves from my mom) is often the next quilt I plan to make. This will be a queen-sized quilt with a charcoal background and triangles of a Riley Blake Designs group of fabrics called Gingham Gardens. The pattern is a free Moda pattern called Pyramids. (I’ve modified the pattern for the dimensions I want).

Mr Kitty is perplexed that it isn’t yet finished. Bu how can I start when he looks so comfy?

Favorite Step

Hmm. My favorite step of making a quilt?

I could not pick one step.

In fact I think my favorite part is that it takes all the parts to bring the whole together. To me, it’s like building a house. Complex and rewarding. Starts with dreaming, designing, and choosing materials. Followed by laying the foundation, framing, and finishing.

It comes together through all the small, mundane, and meditative actions carried out with steady persistence.

Very satisfying!

What Was I Thinking

I love all the fabric I’ve ever brought home. Some of it just takes longer to find the right project!

This fabric is a large scale print and will probably become a garment. Skirt? Shortalls? Pajama pants? Jodhpurs? Gauchos? Oooo, Or maybe a quilt coat lining!! Which would you make?

Quilts of Significance

Mmmm! This is the most treasured quilt that belongs to me. Made by my mom and blanket stitched by her and her very dear departed sister Wanda. It was started long ago and finished last year so the black stitching tells its own story.

I was thrilled and surprised when my mom gave me this for Christmas!

I will treasure it forever!

Favorite Quilting Book

I have a pretty hardy collection of quilt books but these are a few of my very favorites.

I absolutely LOVE Big Stitch Quilting by Carolyn Forster. It is packed with great tips and a variety of projects, perfect for sharing with my little quilty friends.

I also ADORE Simple Geometric Quilting by Laura Preston. I love every project!

And of course Walk and Walk 2.0 by Jacquie Gering! Incredible inspiration for walking foot quilting and clever techniques to improve efficiency. Love love love!

Best Tip Ever

“Perfect is the enemy of good.l
-Tim Sielaff
General surgeon

Fussing with perfection leads to frustration and rarely markedly improves the end result. Do your best and then keep moving forward.

PS This block is miles from perfect. But in the finished quilt, who would notice?!
