🐞🌱 Is it just us, or has this been a really weird year for bugs?

Normally, a few hard frosts help keep pest populations in check, but this season we're seeing much heavier pest pressure in gardens and landscapes.

At Hillside Nursery, we don't use harsh chemicals or insecticides. Instead, we rely on biological controls in our greenhouses; and for home gardeners, we carry Arber Biologicals, the home-garden version of what we use on a larger scale.

One of our favorite things about a pollinator-friendly nursery is all the little visitors we get to see. 🐝🦋

This sweet sphinx moth was taking a nap on our impatiens, and not long after, we spotted a bee snoozing among the blooms too.

Because we don't use harmful sprays, our plants provide a safe place for pollinators to rest, feed, and thrive. It's not unusual to see hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and moths enjoying the nursery right alongside us.

Nature is hard at work here, and we love every minute of it. 💚
