What is celebrated at Easter?
Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus at Easter. According to Christian belief, Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and rose again on Easter Sunday. When is Easter celebrated?
Easter is celebrated on a different date each year. According to church tradition, the festival takes place on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. Because spring begins on March 21st in the church calendar, Easter always falls between March 22nd and April 25th.

Are the shops closed over Easter?
Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday are public holidays in Germany. With few exceptions, shops and supermarkets are closed on these holidays. However, shops are open on Holy Saturday.
