Back in Boyd and cooking dinner at Casa Thome on Monday, which is our Sunday.

Grilled salmon with panzanella salad, which Letty adores, served on my parents’ 1937 Homer Laughlin Nautilus china, which I adore (and appropriated with permission).

I maintain that my favorite part of any trip is landing back at DFW and getting back to the daily grind. Letty disagrees.

The fragrance of Vegas is w**d. Everywhere.

The aromatherapy of Central Market on a Sunday in August is Hatch chiles, tumbling over open flame, roasting by the case, and filling the entire parking lot with smoky green chile perfume. Glorious.

Can literally ANYONE from Hatch, New Mexico, take a meeting with the W**d Consortium and get to work on this?

I’m convinced the Strip could smell like roasted Hatch chiles. They’re are all over the Preorder menu this week at BakeshopBoyd.com

Lemon Cheesecake with a healthy sheen of fresh lemon curd and packed with fresh whipped cream.

And by “healthy sheen,” we mean an abundance of lemon curd, not an abundance of health. We’re not in that business.

We’re in the selling-out-of-stuff business and business is good, especially when Lemon Cheesecake is involved.

Kitty crisis averted and we’re back with the menu.

Normally, Catticus and Scoutmaster would announce our glorious return to the land of preorder, but they’ve already gotten entirely too much facetime this week. Their media privileges have been revoked.

I love Hatch. Hatch, Hatch, Hatch, Hatchity Hatch.
It goes down. Down in my belly.

As much as I lament what social media has done to society, once again it has wielded its mighty power for good.

Catticus is back.

Apparently, he’s been hanging out with a neighbor a block away and hasn’t bothered returning to home base in between visits- unless, of course, he’s the one who’s been eating the food we put out for the outdoor cat.

A full debriefing is in the works, and his pay will be docked accordingly.

We’re very happy to have Mr. Finch back. The neighbor is owed a favor, although I’m not sure she fully understands the value of that yet.

Thanks to everyone who shared, looked, worried, and helped get the word out. Social media, you’ve earned a rare win today. 🐾

Pro tip: Yardbird for breakfast. That way you can save dinner for COTE, Contramar, Mother Wolf, and Bouchon Bistro.

Fried chicken. Chicken-fried steak. Biscuits and gravy. Sexy grits. They even have actual breakfast items if you’re one of those people who refuses to eat grown-up dinner food for breakfast. I am not that person. Letty’s more flexible.
