This retirement is everything I expected except there aren't enough hours in a day. I've still been going to rendezvous but no pressure with making any inventory. However I am going to part with something some of you might be interested in. A copper hearth oven made by Larry Ring, tarnished but never used. I'm willing to sell it for what i have in it. I'll have it at the Fort de Chartres trade fair next weekend. Don't wait on this, it's not going to last. As many of you know Larry was one of the best coppersmiths around. This picture is when it was new, it's several years older now but as I said never used. i would rather not ship this for fear of damage. If your interested message me and plan on picking it up at the trade fair or the June Fort rendezvous

It's getting close.

Retirement is going great, deer plot is doing great, and now garden work. The weather has sucked as far as working in the garden goes but all I have is time. Hope to see some of you at rendezvous this year.

THIS IS A MUST READ
“Happy New Year everyone” I hope this greeting finds everyone happy and covid19 free. It’s been a little over a year since I had my triple by pass, and everything is looking good. You know, it seems like my whole life I have always worked two or more jobs, I guess sometimes for the extra money but I think most of the time to just keep busy. That’s the excuse I use for never getting anything done around here. I worked for 30 years at GM before I officially retired, and during that time I helped create two beauty salons, owned a tavern for 5 years, raise hogs for about 5 years, and cattle for about 15 years. During all of this I got into black powder and became a blanket trader for several years where I also did some blacksmithing, wood working, and now copper smithing, for the past 18 years. It’s not hard for me to pick out different coppersmiths work as I walk through a camp. I’m really happy to say that I see a lot of mine is amongst that copper ware too. I’m getting side tracked here, before long I’ll be getting emotional. It has been an honor and my pleasure to be your go to person for your copper needs. This is my official notification that after midnight to night I will no longer be in business or be taking copper orders. I have 3 or 4 orders on the bench now that will be out in about a week, so don’t think I’ve left you hanging. This does not mean I’ll not be rendezvousing, it just means I’ll now have more time to go around and visit and see some trade blankets while I’m there. I may from time to time have some copper to sell but no more than a couple of items, I’ll not have an inventory, if anything I’ll just have a blanket with a little copper. Why now? I guess I woke up not long ago and thought damn I’m getting old, although I don’t feel it. I never have time to complete anything, I’m always filling orders or trying to build an inventory. Now I can get my yard work done without having to work around orders or rendezvous. And now I can go hunting and not be worrying about having some one waiting on there order because I’m sitting in a tree stand. Not to worry, there are no underlying health issues that have brought me to this decision. This is one of those decisions where I want to quit while I’m at the top of my game. Thank all of you for your business and friendship for these many years and may God bless you.

Hey everyone, the covid may have devastated the restaurant industry, but it didn't do much harm for the copper production as for as I can tell, I've been really busy. The only real difference that I can see is the prices of copper has really gone up. I'll be out of the shop from June 1 through Oct 1 to try and do something constructive around the house. Hopefully when I get back in the shop things will get back to being a little more normal.

Well my surgery went well and I'm on my way to living a normal life again. Well almost, now we have to wait for this covid thing to be eradicated. I did get to fill a lot of orders from inventory, however the mail delivery has really sucked this year, it's taking some packages 8 to 10 days for a 3 day delivery. I'll be back to full production January 1. Just knowing that I wont be restricted to what I can and can't do will be a blessing. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and hope some of that stimulus money will allow you to treat yourself to some new copper. Kidding aside, I hope the New Year will allow us to spend some time with family and friends without the fear of infecting or being infected.

Just an FYI, that i am currently laid up in the hospital recovering from triple by-pass surgery. It will be several months before I can get back in the shop. Hope it's sooner and not later.
