Today's Random Book Review is an interesting find and a great book for the YA audience that reaches your imagination from around the world!

"The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities: New Stories about Mythic Heroes" is a collection of short stories written by ten bestselling and award-winning authors whose voices represent Indian, Mesoamerican, Korean, Cuban, Black American, African, Navajo, Mexican, Mesopotamian, and Celtic cultures.

One reviewer from Goodreads writes "The stories feature familiar characters you’ve read from their books and that makes the collection an exciting trip. If you’re a fan of 'RRP' or Riordan’s 'Percy Jackson' series, you’ll be in for a fantasy-packed treat with thrills and a few chills."

Another treat with thrills is how the purchase of this book goes towards the Bowdoinham Public Library and which offers lots of free resources to our community. If it wasn't for our amazing community support, it gives us chills to think what the library would be without it.

On this week's Random Book Review, we're take a page from author Gretchen Rubin and her book "The Happiness Project."

According to one reviewer, "I enjoyed reading this book, it was fun and stimulating, and it made me HAPPY. It involved following Gretchen Rubin in her year-long pursuit to increase the amount of happiness in her life. I learnt a lot along the way, and often they were things I was not expecting to learn. I didn't agree with everything she tried - but then neither did she - some of her projects just didn't work out. But a lot of them did, and she has given us all a lot to think about."

And while you help yourself find happiness, just know you've already provided it by buying this book. The proceeds go towards the Bowdoinham Public Library, which uses the money to keep the library open and free for all community residents, where the happiness provided always remains free of charge.

This week's Random Book Review is one of the highest-rated books on Goodreads, with a 4.7! It's also VERY difficult to get a copy of, especially the English language version.

"Describing a visit to his grandparents home when he was a child, the author shares the stories his grandpa gives him about the tools in his workshop, and the little elves that live there. First popular in the woodworking community, I think this would be a wonderful story to tell any child, particularly by any grandfather who likes to tinker. There's magic in these stories, and humor . . . but also hints of past tragedies and real darkness. It looks into the history as seen by a family in the French countryside, which we must realize has at times been filled with hardship and times of war." -Amazon review

You can find this in the kids section for the low price of just ONE DOLLAR. As always, you help others find their child's next big book because sales go directly to the Bowdoinham Public Library / to keep imagination alive.

Today, we bring you the hidden gem "The God Of The Woods" from author Liz Moore.

Sure, we could've asked Kate to do ANOTHER video review, but this one from 'Canadian Jen' hits the nail in the head:

"This was a mind boggler. A mystery twofer told in dual timelines. One child who has gone missing in 1961; another 1975. Both are from the prestigious Van Laar family and owners of the camp. The setting is in the wooded area of the Adirondacks. But don’t be fooled by the beauty of the landscape. Something ugly is happening in these woods.

This story is stacked with multiple characters, multiple scenarios and multiple suspects.

Believe the hype. 5⭐️"

We do, Canadian Jen, we do.

You should also believe the hype about the wonderful things the sales from these books goes toward at the Bowdoinham Public Library. At just $2, this book and its benefits is a win-win.

This week, Kate of the Bowdoinham Public Library grabbed her cell phone and filmed her own random book recommendation.

As a reminder, profits from the sales of any books goes directly towards keeping the library open and free for our community.
