Here is the latest review on Return From Rysa-Angels and Aliens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Multi-faceted adventure

I’m grateful that the subtitle of this book included “a parable’; it gave me permission to see so many layers in the many new “races” introduced in this inventive novel.

Because I’m a religious person who loves biblical teachings, I was intrigued that science fiction could be written with a strong spiritual and religious component. Non-religious people can enjoy the story on the surface level of alien abductions, evil extraterrestrial beings taking human DNA because they’ve destroyed their own, and extraterrestrial beings of light protecting human children. But then… see all this through the lens of the perennial human condition of the battle of good vs. evil, and suddenly beings of light may be something entirely different than simply a different species in the universe. Is this simply a depiction of a different kind of human?

The story is well told from many points of view, and in spite of different races to keep track of, classic human motivations and emotions drive a compelling story - characters of multiple races all experiencing age-old emotions of greed, fear, love, loyalty, the desire for light, the repulsion of light.

This “parable” left me praying that there might actually be angels who reach out to human children in great peril in our world - as there are so very many of them. It left me thinking all humans are born with the weighty responsibility of choosing light for themselves, and to reflect it to others. I’m so looking forward to where this series is going.

With book Two of Return From Rysa just weeks away, I wanted to post another 5-star review of Book One.

Wow! This story was not at all what I thought it would be as I first started reading it! My predetermined ideas and thought patterns (regarding this particular genre) were slowly being disrupted as my mind - and heart - became forced to deal with the story that was unfolding in such a brilliant and beautiful way. Once I started getting through the initial building-blocks of the story in the first couple of chapters, I didn’t want to stop reading!

I’ve never been exposed to a story like this before and the author was certainly able to help me not only identify with certain elements of his story (like the idea of “perbia”), but to actually consider those elements! Why not, right? It definitely made it more interesting to read after I started hypothetically considering the fictional and intellectual architecture and premise of the story. I think that’s probably (maybe) what turns an ordinary sci-fi book into a great sci-fi book?!? It allows the reader to easily and eagerly want to give in to the premise/plot, fall in love with the characters, and feel things that stir the soul well after finishing the book."

I’ve found myself thinking back on several aspects of this story than probably any other fictional book I’ve read in the past several years! I think it’s because the author took a different (atypical) path with his story, which completely took me by surprise and made it such an enjoyable experience.

It’s such a fun and interesting story that is certain to leave some sort of watermark on your heart and mind. This book has definitely been one of the funnest, most enjoyable books I’ve read in a long while and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys good storytelling and appreciates the journey a reader takes whenever they’re pulled into a new literary adventure. I enjoyed this particular adventure so much that I read it twice with approximately 2-3 months between readings (and the second time was just as enjoyable as the first)!

I’m eagerly anticipating the release of the sequel, and my fingers are crossed that there will be more than one…or three…or five after that!! The author is definitely on to something special with this story. Definitely!

Hope this helps. Enjoy!

A mind-expanding glimpse beyond our world at the battle between good and evil
Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2023

This book quickly takes the reader into a view of the conflict beyond mortal sight and the world as we know it, and explores how the battle between good and evil not only exists beyond our own understanding, but where we might fit within it. While dealing with some dark events at times, it contrasts them with the importance and power of LOVE, as well as the dangers of pride (perbia), and offers hope and reassurance, that in the BIG eternal picture, the powers of Light and Truth ultimately control all things and are far greater than any darkness we might fear. It was an engaging, enlightening, and enjoyable read!

In 2012, I wrote my first novel, Not Without Mercy: The Black Death.
It is the story of a family that endures the Black Plague of 1348 in Bristol, England. It's a story of faith, family, hope, love, and redemption. I wrote book two, Not Without Mercy: Redemption, two years later. Recently, I started recording the audio version of book one. Both books are about 16 hours of audio, so recording is extremely time-consuming.

I received a notification from Amazon that they are experimenting with AI narration for audiobooks and asked if I would consider one of my books. Since I am in the middle of writing book three of Return From Rysa (Also available on Audible, Book two is being edited), I jumped on the opportunity to get my first two books on audible.

Computer-generated narration is NOT as good as human narration. But I believe the story in these two books will make up for it. All my books are available on Amazon. I hope you enjoy the audio version of Not Without Mercy.

The Black Death, the first volume in the NOT WITHOUT MERCY series, is the account of a family caught in the dawn of the world’s most dangerous outbreak, the Black Plague of 1348 that took the lives of over twenty-five million people, over one-third of the population of Europe. The Black Plague ca....
