Who knew this dog was sunny yellow?! 🐾 Not me!
Facebook is killing me with these music rules 🤦🏽♀️
Here is Part 2 of my 47 year old jumbo dog restoration! So initially, we *didnt* want to remove the stuffing as the toy was highly sentimental, and we wanted to retain the original shape of the dog and sometimes when washing such a large stuffie (or stuffy? What do you guys say?) the shape will become wonky.
Not only that but when you are working with such older faux furs the material might be to fragile to HANDLE a washing machine. But after manually washing him a few times I could see that it was strong enough to handle the washing machine so we switched course half way through this process as there was just no way he would fit in the washing machine and dryer.
Also you 100% *DO NOT* want micro styrofoam pellets in your washing machine and dryer. Even in a laundry bag. You will destroy both machines.
And quite frankly I wasn’t keen on dealing with styrofoam for the lovely disaster that it is. However after going through the first steps, I just truly needed to put this in a washing machine and no matter how many manual washes I would have tried, it won’t come close to the vigor of a washing machine cycle.
So unstuffing him was a hot mess 😂, and then after 2 more washes (so 5 total!) we was butter yellow again!🥳
Stuffing and sewing was the easy part; brushing him however… hot damn did my arms get a workout. It took a long time to brush him out but once I did, he literally looked like a different dog.
Then (in part 3, the LAST part!) I restore his eyes, recreate the tongue, redo his nose, and he is ready for his reunion with his owner. Stay tuned for PART 3 soon!🥳
