At least the snow on April 7 was the best snow: Pretty, but doesn't accumulate. By Mary Ellen.

Dagnabbit! Blame us, we guess: We'd just pulled the French Toast Alert banner off the UHub home page - beginning of April, temps in the 60s, of course it was time. Only it wasn't. NWS says we could see some snow between 10 and 11 p.m. on Tuesday (which seems unusually specific, but whatever). "Little or now snow accumulation expected," they say. So we'll stay at 1 Slice/Low for now, but all of a sudden we feel the need to gnaw our fingernails a little.

You know the old joke about how if you don't like the weather here, wait a moment? Here's what the NWS says about today: "Looking like we'll be experiencing two seasons today." Started out warmish and rainy, but will end cold and sleety/snowy. Maybe as much as 2-inches snowy, although that's more likely westa 495, but still, "reduced visibilities likely during the PM commute."

So tonight would be a good night to settle in with a nice warm plate of French toast!

A roving UHub photographer watched an intrepid snow shoveler hard at work above Shy Bird on Third at Main in Kendall Square as more snow fell this morning. The sidewalk he was shoveling onto was taped off and there was a detail cop there to make sure nobody got dumped on. See larger.

Well, that was something. But now it's all over but the digging out, right? Well, not quite. Tuesday will be clear, yay, but another storm Wednesday (one of those fast-moving clipper storms, not another coastal storm) could bring a bit of snow. Doesn't sound like much, but given how much we just got, even a little will be too much, so we're only going down to 3 Slices/Elevated rather than 2 Slices. And there's another possible storm Friday, although NWS says it could be mixed precipitation, rather than rain.

We'd rush right over to Eric Fox's house to join him in his repast this morning, but well, then we looked out the window. Or tried to: Read more.
