And that’s a wrap!
This stunning kitchen renovation in a historic 1960s home in Natchitoches, Louisiana, was all about honoring the home’s original character while creating a space that feels fresh, functional, and timeless.
To open the home and improve flow, we removed the wall separating the kitchen from one of the living areas, transforming the heart of the home into a bright and inviting gathering space. The kitchen was taken down to the studs and completely reimagined with custom DeWils Custom Cabinetry in the homeowner’s favorite shade of green, beautifully paired with a rich mahogany island that ties seamlessly into the existing hardwood floors beyond.
Classic terrazzo flooring was selected as a nod to the home’s mid-century roots, while luxurious quartz countertops and a natural stone backsplash add texture, warmth, and enduring style. New plumbing fixtures, recessed lighting, statement pendants, and updated ceiling fans complete the design, blending modern convenience with timeless appeal.
The renovation extended beyond the kitchen as well. A small, outdated exterior door was removed and the opening expanded to accommodate a new sliding glass door, flooding the space with natural light and creating a stronger connection to the outdoors.
Every detail was thoughtfully selected to preserve the spirit of this historic home while enhancing the way it lives today.
