Ryan was diagnosed as the first person in history to have all three subtypes of an autoimmune disorder called Pyoderna Gangrenosum that causes wounds all over his body and leaves him extremely vulnerable to infection and sepsis. He also had compounding, life threatening complications of Autoimmune encephalitis (brain swelling and immune system attacking the brain) and adrenal insufficiency that has multiple times landed him in an ambulance and ER for near death episodes of adrenal collapse. Ryan’s wife, Mikkel Becker, and in laws, Marty and Teresa Becker, are doing all they can with the community’s help to save Ryan’s life, or at the very least, give him the best quality life possible, giving him invaluable time to spend with their one-year son.
