Studying all mediums, I focused on painting for many years. As I pursued my art degree, I took a course in ceramics and my life was changed forever. It turned out to be my emphasis for my art degree with a minor in art education. I loved teaching my high school art students all mediums but was always extra excited to introduce them to clay. I also had the opportunity to teachpottery to elementary
age students in community art classes during the summer months. Well, life throws curves at you and things change. I quit teaching and jumped into the world of restaurants with my husband. I wound up baking for our restaurants. I loved the baking and was doing it fulltime, so it was now my main creative outlet leaving no time for art. I did start making jewelry in the evenings. It was very relaxing hobby to do in the evening and I found I really enjoyed it. Of course, I dove headfirst into it and took classes and learned new techniques. We had opened a boutique by then and I started selling my jewelry there. But as much as I loved jewelry making, I was missing the wonderful but super messy world of pottery and the new house we moved into had no space for it. Well, the years of baking wore me out and decided to call it quits. My wonderful husband built me a studio this past Christmas and I was able to create separate spaces inside it to include half for pottery making and the other half dedicated to painting and jewelry making. So, I now have the ability to spend all my time being creative in any of the many mediums I love. This has brought about the decision to start my online business, Lisa Lunsford Art. I hope you enjoy seeing all my work and plan to bring some of my favorite and best-selling recipes to my website soon as well as pottery tutorials.
