Ever wonder why Dory was always on the move? 🐟💙

The real-life Dory is a Blue Hippo Tang, and just like in the movie, they’re active swimmers that spend most of their day cruising the reef in search of food. Their bright blue color helps them blend into the vibrant reef environment, and when threatened, they can quickly dart into coral crevices for safety.

While Blue Tangs don’t actually have short-term memory loss, they are known for constantly roaming and exploring their surroundings…so Disney may have gotten part of Dory’s adventurous personality right! 😉

One fish. Two completely different looks. 👀🐠

This juvenile Harlequin Sweetlips may look like a completely different species than its adult form! As they grow, these fish undergo an incredible transformation, changing from bold black, white, and brown markings to a spotted silver-and-white appearance.

In the wild, juveniles use their unique pattern and swimming behavior to mimic toxic marine creatures, helping deter predators. Adults can reach over 2 feet in length, making them best suited for very large aquariums.

One of the most fascinating transformations in the saltwater hobby! 🌊
