This month’s session will be focused on filling our boxes with beach flies. Bring your vise and materials, hang out with us, and load up your beach snook box for the upcoming season!

If you don’t tie, Darren will be tying his “Eat Me” pattern, and Captain Mike will be tying a ghost-style minnow pattern, so come hang out and watch!

Field Report Friday!
Today we have Jonathan Martinez using Artic Fox Fur as heads.

"A simple yet effective pattern using ep brushes for the head of the fly and artic fox for the tail material. You can vary if you want weight on the fly depending on the depth of water you are fishing. I used small bead chain for this fly to help keep it at a slow sinking rate and increase attention with the rattling action bead chain provides. Laid a nice lead cast to a group of tarpon and this one took me for a ride on the 6wt!"

The full video can be found at the link in the bio! Watch as Capt Michael Passalacqua ties his Snook Slider. This is a deadly effective pattern for Florida Bay and the backcountry mangroves. It's made for shallow mud flats or along the mangroves. Tarpon and redfish will gladly accept this fly. It's perfect to have it on when you're not sure what you are getting into!

This field report Friday we have

"The belly scratcher minnow in the blue gill color is the first fly I caught a bass on. Being a first time fisher let alone fly fishing I had no idea what I was doing, but it got the job done. Fast forward a year later and it was one of the first flies I learned how to tie. I was figuring out that the fly was awesome, but it was to heavy for most of the situations I was fishing it. I decided to tie my own with varying weights to hit different water columns. I eventually came across a canal that held tons of clown knife fish. They would not eat a single thing I threw at them….. I decided to try ole reliable with an intermediate line. Nice slow strips dredging the bottom of the canal. Boom I caught 3 clown knife fish that day. I try to fish other flies for them but usually end up doing back to this one."

Umpqua Jig Bombs use dense tungsten to pack more weight into a smaller profile, which means a quieter entry, faster sink, and a smaller eye than you’d get with lead. Less commotion on the cast means closer casts, and more fish. Almost all of my added weight to flies are Jib bombs. Give them a try!

How can something so simple be so overlooked? Thanks Enrico Puglisi Flies for such a simple, great product.
To me, its worth the few extra bucks to have a perfectly stright weedguard imediatly available, no fuss.
