🔧 Tip Tuesday #1 — The “Extractor Tension Check” Every Pistol Needs

A huge percentage of feed issues come from improper extractor tension, especially in 1911‑pattern guns.

A quick test: slide a dummy round under the extractor and shake the slide lightly. It should hold the round but not clamp it like a vise.

This takes 10 seconds and prevents a ton of “mystery malfunctions.”

🔧 Tip Tuesday #2 — The “Sharpie Sight Zero” Trick

Before drifting dovetail sights, mark the base of the sight and slide with a Sharpie.
As you tap, the witness mark shows exact movement, so you don’t overshoot and chase zero back and forth.

It’s simple, clean, and saves time on every handgun that comes across the bench.

“Witness marks = faster, cleaner sight work.”

🔩 Shop Tune‑Up Saturday — “Give Your Bench Tools a Quick Reset”

Shop Tune‑Up Saturday: Before you dive into weekend projects, take a minute to reset your bench tools — calipers, torque drivers, depth gauges, anything that relies on zeroing.

A fast re‑zero keeps your measurements honest, your fits cleaner, and your work consistent.
It’s one of those tiny habits that saves you from chasing problems that weren’t really problems.

Start the weekend dialed in.

⚙️ Throwdown Thursday — “Shop Life: Gloves On or Gloves Off?”

Throwdown Thursday: When you’re working metal, coating, machining, or wrenching…
are you a gloves on person or a gloves off person?

Some folks want that bare‑hand feel for precision.
Others want protection, grip, and no cleanup under the nails.

Pick your side and tell us why — no wrong answers, just shop opinions.

🔧 Tip Tuesday — “The Fastest Way to Diagnose Light Primer Strikes”

Tip Tuesday: Getting light primer strikes? Before you start swapping parts, check the firing pin channel for debris or old oil that’s turned into sludge.

A dirty channel slows the firing pin just enough to cause inconsistent hits.
A quick clean with solvent and a pipe cleaner often fixes the issue faster than replacing springs or pins.

Simple, safe, and one of the most common real‑world causes.

☀️ Summer Prep Saturday #3 — UV Protection for Gear

UV exposure can fade fabrics, weaken straps, and damage plastics over time. To protect your gear:

Keep bags and cases out of direct sunlight

Avoid leaving gear on dashboards or tailgates

Inspect straps and buckles for sun‑wear

Store long-term items in shaded or indoor areas

Sun protection isn’t just for skin — it matters for equipment too.

⭐ Tip Tuesday #3 — “The Proper Way to Use a Bore Brush”

A bore brush is a great tool — when used correctly. Here’s the quick rule:

Push the brush all the way through

Don’t reverse direction inside the barrel

Follow with patches to remove loosened carbon

Replace worn brushes regularly

Proper technique keeps your barrel clean without unnecessary wear.

☀️ Summer Prep Saturday #2 — Sweat & Corrosion Prevention

Sweat is more corrosive than most people realize. If you’re carrying or training outdoors:

Wipe down metal surfaces after exposure

Clean salt residue from holsters and clips

Check screws and hardware for early rust

Air‑dry gear before storing it

Small steps keep your equipment in top shape all season.
