Meet the Meyers: Mitzi Phelan 🎵

Mitzi Phelan (maiden name Meyer) – the youngest child of Ted and Betty Meyer – grew up with Meyer Music in her blood. Her story started early...really early. By 6th grade, the school bus dropped her off at the store where she'd work the counter and spend hours manually posting rental payments.

As a true "Meyer Kid," music lessons weren't optional – they were just what you did. Piano every week, instrumental lessons when band started, and summers helping with Girl Scout lessons. That was just life as a Meyer.

Now, as an adult, she's taken over all the financials her mom Betty managed for decades – transforming manual processes into modern systems and bringing visibility to cash flow that once existed only in her mom's head! 🤯

What excites her most? Mentoring the 3rd generation and watching them shape Meyer Music's future.

When she's not crunching numbers, you'll find her on the pickleball court, cheering on Mizzou football 🐯, or planning her oldest daughter's wedding!

Meet the Meyers | Part 4: John Meyer 🎵

From making name tags at rental nights as a kid to now leading customer relationships as part of Meyer Music's 3rd generation, John's journey back to the family business wasn't always straightforward.

After business school, John took the corporate route - but quickly realized his favorite part of each day was leaving his office job to work evenings at Meyer Music. Six years later, he's built the trust and relationships that have made him the go-to person for customers and music directors on the Kansas side of the state line.

The best part? Every Saturday morning, John and his dad, Mike Meyer (2nd generation), spend two uninterrupted hours together in the office, talking business, life, and everything in between.

Looking ahead, John's most excited about his own kids being raised in the business the same way he was—playing hide and seek under the pianos, growing up behind the counter, and creating their own Meyer Music memories.

When he's not at the store, you'll find him on the golf course or catching the latest movie. 🎬⛳
