Happy Friday, Bakers of BloNo and Beyond.....

We have had an uptick (again) in questions asking about The DG....and, we are not sure where the information is coming from...

We aren't going anywhere. Alexander's here in town is very sad.....Janet's being for sale is very sad...we wish all of the folks in both of those establishments the VERY best and thank them for everything that they have contributed to our community.

BUT...

We aren't going anywhere. We aren't closing. In fact, we just got MORE new, fun cookie cutters in stock. We accept credit cards! We now have wifi! AND, we turn 50 next year.....we're republishing our cookbook next year!!

So, if you don't mind letting folks know that we are VERY much open....alive....and slowly, but surely growing, we would so appreciate it. We don't get a ton of phone calls, but when all the calls we are getting is to ask if we are closing, we start to worry.

Any if you happen to SEE anywhere that says anything other than The DG is OPEN, please message us and let us know!!

When you have as many cutters as we do, finding new ones (NOT 3D Printed) can be a challenge....but we did find a few new fun ones that we will post about this week!!

Summer Readers!! The Bloomington Public Library, Illinois summer reading program is a fan favorite and we have been partners, both at The DG and Red Raccoon Games for as many years as we have been open...and we are READY!!

Teens and adults....finish the Summer Reading Program and come redeem your certificate for a free car cookie cutter (Route 66, baby!) and Kids....teens....adults, redeem your certificate for 2 free dice at RRG. ONE per person, MUST be present to redeem (stricter rules this year!).

Ok, you Dot Cake fanatics.....if you're confused about one of the newest trends in the baking industry...here is a little snippet!!

Looking for a kid friendly project? Grab a box of your favorite cake mix....bake it up in a pan (add an extra egg and replace the oil with butter for a better flavor/texture)....let cool, use a glass to cut out a circle.....fill your jar/paper cup/mug with the cut cake.....top it with your favorite canned icing (or make your own!!) and then DIP the entire thing in nonpareils..... Served COLD.

Nonpareils....the bane of existence for most experienced bakers....those tiny sugar balls that go EVERYWHERE when you sprinkle them. Dot cakes are a smidgen easier- you just dip them (less mess).
