~20 years ago my dad was running Makor, a Jewish cultural center near Lincoln Center. I saw Josh Ritter there when he was touring for his second album “Hello Starling”. Josh has toured the world since then, recorded 8 more albums and made a name for himself as a sharp songwriter and dynamic performer. One of the best parts of getting older is revisiting the musicians who inspired me. I chatted with Josh in the hallway at Makor. He was a nervous, soft-spoken guy, but very nice and clearly thinking about his set to come. Congratulations to Josh for staying the course and making it to the Beacon Theater, which to my veteran ears is the best room in New York City.
