One tick can carry more than one thing.
And they don’t all answer to the same treatment. Doxycycline handles a fresh case of Borrelia and Anaplasma. It does nothing for Babesia , Bartonella, or other potential pathogens — different organisms, different protocol entirely.
That’s why the coinfection question matters. Treat one, miss another, and lingering symptoms get filed as treatment failure when they’re really a second infection nobody looked for.
