After five great years, I have decided to close The Swamp Log on December 31st. My wife, children, and grandchildren deserve all my attention in this last phase of my life. While I still have health, they have made plans for me: fishing, SCUBA diving, and traveling. I am all in!
Many blessings have been generated by my business here in downtown Bishopville. The greatest has been the people that have come into my life.
To my customers: You recognized the value and worth of our unique offerings and I truly hope our products will be used and enjoyed by you and your descendants for many years. You were the reason we existed. You spent your money in support, and many of you spent time in my store getting to know me and sharing your friendship. Thank you.
And to my collective of artists, artisans, and woodcrafters. Y'all are so talented that it is downright scary! You made our existence possible and enriched my life through the relationships we formed. It has been one of my best experiences to have had the privilege to work with and to get to know you. I hope each one of you continues to do your incredible creative work.
And to my right-hand man, Luke Giddings. You are truly "the best employee ever!" Your selfless contributions to The Swamp Log were invaluable. Please take your amazing abilities and talents and continue to shape the world around you into a better place. You are making such a difference in our community. I am excited you have purchased the buildings from me and hope they are successful for you!
To the best wife ever, Bev thank you for supporting me in this venture and all the other adventures we have embarked on! I love you.
My fondest wish is that the City of Bishopville and its people will keep working hard to improve this community until it achieves the potential the citizens deserve. God speed!
