My second completed build for 2024. Also walnut/spruce, with a mahogany neck. The rosette on this one has some absolutely wild figuring. Had a blast surprising her new owner at the bar! šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ šŸ“ø: .e.creativeworks

Introducing number 014, model JL-93. My first published 4 piece back in rims, sitka spruce owner-chosen out of my ā€œspruce libraryā€ by her owner, and the Parlor City Package including chaos rosette, headstock, end graft and flush heel cap. This guitar represents my best aestheticwork so far, and that’s with the help of her owner; I sent several photos of proposed inlay designs, and was given honest feedback. I pushed the boundaries and think it made for a pretty guitar and a very happy owner. This is my first guitar to utilize gold-toned fretwire which matches the double-brass fretboard position markers, and I must say - the strings themselves, albeit unintentional. I’ve been off IG for awhile now for no other reason than I’m too casual of a user - too much swiping! I’ve got some guitars to show you, but a rather exciting life update: I’ve accepted a job as a Flight Paramedic with Mercy Flight Central. It’s been quite the onboarding experience, and I couldn’t be more stoked to put on the flight suit. A goal I’ve held close to the chest for about 10 years now. 🚁

This guitar finally made it to his new home. The client really pushed me to try out some new techniques, and I’d say on my guitars the rosette is normally the eye catcher; on this one the headstock takes home the gold.

from someone’s back yard in Binghamton; Sitka spruce from Alaska; bloodwood fingerboard and bridge; various exotics for accents.

Certainly the most eye catching guitar I’ve made so far, and now it’s on to the next one!

As always, thank you to .e.creativeworks for your incredible studio work. My favorite part about finishing these guitars is passing them off to your capable hands!

I also own and operate Carousel City Woodworks primarily making gifts for local corporate clients using wood, glue, and my fancy new large-format CO2 laser engraver. This is the largest batch to date - one stack of cutting boards to a dentist office, and another gift set for ANOTHER dentist office! Could never have predicted that this kind of work would be what I’d be doing as an adult.

Came down to the shop today and found my hot water heater sprung a leak! Explained why my shower was lukewarm, figured the pilot light had gone out. Luckily, it appeared to be a slow one. Even luckier was I had an appointment scheduled with one of my clients, who selflessly offered his skill, knowledge, (and truck!) to remove, retrieve, and replace the 17 year old natural gas heater. Thanks a million, Pat!!

I absolutely love building guitars with . Luckily, it’s native to the Northeast unlike many exotics, meaning locally/ethically sourced. I’ve teamed up with my friend Dale - an Urban Sawyer - to source a large black walnut tree with my mentor/friend Mr. Kevin La Due and have it quartersawn. To my knowledge, this is very rarely done with black walnut, even for instrument making. I’ve now got enough for the rest of my career!

Had a blast with my company and with the help of my wonderful fiancƩ and my very talented graphic designer/friend and HIS business at Binghamton On Tap today, for which I was a sponsor! I tried taking a selfie with my name in lights but photobombed as I snapped it!
