We began Polish Pottery collecting began back in 1998 with a 5-hour car ride from Bamberg, Germany to Boleslawiec, Poland with military wives. The hunt to find new pieces, patterns, and designs was always exciting. As our collection grew, we knew that this everyday stoneware made our cakes/breads that much better, our coffee stayed warmer, and our dinnertime table a conversation piece. It is VERY durable and yet beautiful for everyday use or for entertaining. Each piece is unique and can be mixed with many different patterns making. When the owner, moved back to the USA from Germany, the movers kept commenting on the massive amount of pottery she collected. They kept saying, "More polish pottery?" as in "You have more of it?"
'The more you have...the more you want.'
"More Polish Pottery" began as a business in 2011. Boleslawiec stoneware originated as folk art in the early 1800’s. It was created in the German province of Silesia, now a part of Poland. Inspired by the peacock feather, farmers created a statement of strength and beauty in each piece of their tableware. Today in a small village of Boleslawiec, Poland, skilled artists still individually handcraft and hand paint each piece of pottery using a hand-stamping technique and free-hand design. Many cooperatives work in Boleslawiec today, but the finest stoneware is produced by the cooperative known as “Boleslawiec Ceramika Artystyczna”. Each piece is stamped on the bottom with their noted seal. Excellent craftsmanship is the trademark of “Boleslawiec Ceramika Artystyczna”. Each piece is an individual artwork, so no two pieces are exactly alike. This stoneware is lead-free and cadmium-free and is safe for use in the dishwasher, microwave and oven. It is also impervious to abrasives. It is extremely durable stoneware and will not crack or chip easily. The cookware is a joy to use in any kitchen! Each recipe will emerge cooked evenly as only stoneware can do. Family and friends will be amazed at the unique and artistic presentation and clean up is so simple due to the dense glazes that create an impenetrable barrier between the pottery and food, no scrubbing needed, just rinse and put in the dishwasher. I hope you come out to the shop to discover the beauty of Polish Pottery Stoneware. I cannot wait for your visit to Big Rock - just west of Sugar Grove. We also offer an online shop and live social media shows.
