Facebook no longer allows me to share my Instagram posts to this page. Follow me on Instagram if you can, because I probably won't post here on FB much in future. In the meantime, stop by this weekend to find your tiny lucky fortune, all weekend in celebration of St Patrick's Day.

"All huncamunca and fahdoodle," he mused. (Samuel Hopkins Adams, 1871-1958)
A delightful find! Charming tales, reminiscent of Twain's, but featuring 19th century folk along the Erie Canal. Grandfather's "deliberate anachronisms" of language and Adams's gimlet eye make for fun reading.
Adams was a journalist and a muckraker, known for exposing public health injustices of the time. A prolific novelist as well, he also wrote "risque" fiction - under the pseudonym Warner Fabian - about flappers and their jazz age antics. Several of these were later made into movies.

Her eyes were bottomless wells that led to the permafrost of her soul. (Helene Tursten)
A small book with a killer collection of stories about an elderly Swede who finds creative ways to make her problems, whether neighbors or strangers, go away. Fun and quick read! Hardcover, very good condition, $7.

Many times I have written something, and after it was published, I understood what I was saying. (Donald Hall, 1928-2018)
Who knew? In 1972 our beloved New Hampshire poet and U.S. Poet Laureate, Donald Hall, published 26 ribald limericks in an X-***ed alphabet book. Victorian-style suggestive ink drawings by Harvey Kornberg feature lots of corsets, garters, and plump flesh. It's possible that Hall didn't consider this his finest work - it's not even listed in his extensive bibliography on Wikipedia. From Aphrodisiac to Zo*****ia, this is a remarkable addition to the 300-year-old tradition of risque rhymes. First edition hardcover, like-new condition, $30.
