👻 One of the strangest turns in our old house renovation tale involved Margaret and this crab. 🦀
She worked on the copper blue crab all day. But then it disappeared. We turned the studio inside out looking for it and pulled the security camera footage. No crab.
The next morning a woman came in as soon as we opened. She was a bit shy at first, but then proceeds to tell us that she is from central PA, but has been vacationing down here for the week, and she is a medium.
She said she was out meditating on the beach a few days earlier when a pattern came to her. She drew it in the sand and showed her daughter, but they didn’t know what it meant.
Then she went on a ghost tour in Berlin, saw our sign, recognized our logo as the design she drew, and knew she had to ”visit the space.” She claimed she felt a presence as soon as she walked it and identified it as a friendly one - a mother in a rocking chair in the front corner of the gallery space, holding a child on her lap.
She told us the mother was happy with the work we’ve been doing, but warned that the child is mischievous and may pull pranks. We thanked her and said we’re fine with that - happy, cheeky spirits are always welcome. She asked for a business card with our logo on it and left soon after, leaving us staring at the corner (pic 2).
Once she left we encouraged Peggy to stand in the corner and politely ask for her crab back. She wandered over and did so: “May I please have my copper crab back? Thanks ever so much!” (pic 3).
The wait began … and not even 20 minutes later, the crab resurfaced. One of us walked behind the counter and the light bounced off something shiny near the floor. It was a sliver of copper showing through the back of a junk frame we had set aside for signage. The crab was sandwiched between the paper showing through the glass & the backing, which wasn’t an easy place for it to have ended up by accident.
So the crab was recovered (pic 1) and from then on, whenever we can’t find something, we follow Peggy’s lead and head to the corner and ask ever so nicely.
We’ll be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, Sat., May 23 - come by share your favorite Peggy story with us!
