To our amazing customers — thank you for your patience during one of the busiest seasons we’ve ever experienced at Albertsons Engine Service.

First and foremost, this post is NOT meant to scare anyone away from bringing equipment to us. We truly appreciate every customer who supports our small business, and we are continuing to accept repairs and do everything we can to help our community.

We simply want to be honest and transparent about current turnaround times so customers know what to expect before dropping equipment off.

Right now we are receiving a high amount of pieces of equipment dropped off every single day, on top of the large amount already here waiting for service. With several small engine shops in our area closing over the last few years, we are doing our absolute best to help everyone who calls or walks through our doors.

At the moment, repair wait times are running approximately 3–4+ weeks before equipment can even be looked at. We completely understand how frustrating that is when the grass is growing fast and everyone needs their equipment running NOW.

Please know:
• We are not ignoring your machine
• We are not “holding” equipment on purpose
• We are working as fast as humanly possible every day

Currently, our shop is operating with a very small staff while still trying to keep up with overwhelming demand. Skilled small engine mechanics have become extremely hard to find, and trust us, we’ve been searching.

We truly appreciate every customer who continues to support us, recommend us, and remain patient while we work through this season. Your kindness means more than you know.

We promise we are here, we are working hard, and we are doing everything we can to keep South Jersey mowing, trimming, cutting, and running.

Spring is here ☀️ which means mower season has started. 🌱

Just a quick heads up for our customers:

Many people think if they drop their mower off today it will be ready tomorrow… but this time of year we have a lot of equipment coming in. (We wish we could move that fast! Or find more mechanics 😩😢, or have every part for every machine in existence in stock but unfortunately thats just not reality)

🔧 Our typical turnaround time right now is about 2 weeks.

The sooner you bring it in, the sooner you’ll be ready when the grass starts growing fast.

Please plan service accordingly as spring is our busy season

We’ve been getting some calls about gas dripping or leaking when priming snowblowers, so here’s a quick explanation to clear things up 🙂

Snowblowers are different than lawn mowers — they do not have an air filter. When you press the primer bulb, fuel is being pulled directly into the carburetor.

👉 If you press the primer too many times, the machine can become over-fueled, and that extra fuel has to go somewhere — so you may see gas drip out while you’re priming.

✅ This can be normal IF:
• The gas only leaks while you’re pressing the primer
• The leaking stops once you stop priming

❌ This is NOT normal IF:
• Gas continues to pour out after you stop priming
• Gas is leaking constantly without touching the primer

Tip: Most snowblowers only need 2–3 primer presses. More is not better.

If it stops leaking when you stop priming — you’re good. Fire it up and get back to pushing snow. No panic necessary 😄❄️

🚨 Snowblower PSA 🚨

In just the past week, we’ve had a lot (A LOT) of snowblowers come through the shop (thank you guys so much for trusting in us!) and the issue we’re seeing over and over again is old or bad fuel.

We’re flushing old gas out of tanks and carburetors (or replacing carbs entirely), tuning machines up, and sending them home ready to go with fresh non-ethanol fuel so they can be stored safely if they don’t get used again. (Non-ethanol fuel will not gel or rust carburetors like the gas station fuel will. We recommend a brand called VP Small engine fuel which we sell in store and use in all of our equipment)

⚠️ Important:
If you just had your snowblower serviced due to old/bad fuel, PLEASE do not go into your garage where your gas has been sitting for months and pour the old fuel back into the machine. Doing so WILL re-create the exact same problem we just fixed.

Think of it like: Brushing your teeth…then chewing on an onion OR paying for a car wash then driving straight through a mud puddle OR shoveling your driveway moments before the plow truck comes down your street. Just…why?

FRESH FUEL ONLY. Old Fuel = repeat problems.

❄️❄️ With another storm on the horizon… we are still rushing out snowblowers + generators. The sooner you can drop them off the better. We have our driver out and about doing pickups, give us a call to get on the list.
