Get ready… it’s almost here! 🐾✨

I just completed my first test stitch of the GRLS 14-Year Anniversary design—and I’m really excited about how it’s coming together!

As part of the process, I always do a test stitch on a fabric similar to what I’ll use in production. For this one, I grabbed a lightweight, stretchy long-sleeve knit jacket (Tek brand). Since my main goal was to evaluate the stitch design itself, I kept the setup simple—using two layers of tear-away stabilizer (the material used on the inside of the garment to support the stitching). Normally, I’d use a more structured, leave-in stabilizer, but this gave me a quick way to test performance.

Good news—I love how it turned out!
I did make one adjustment: the stars. The satin-style stitch felt a little too raised and prone to snagging, so I switched to a flatter stitch—similar to what’s used in the golden—which gives it a cleaner, more durable finish.

Next up: one more test run… after I give my trusty machine a little TLC. She’s due for some oil, a good dusting, and a bit of love before we get into production mode. 😊

About the design 💛

This piece started from my Angel concept. There will be two versions:

✨ Angel version (with halo)

🐾 Hero version (no halo)

The tagline: “Honoring Heroes – Inspiring Hope”

Every year, as we celebrate more and more birthdays—all of our Heroes now in double digits (11 is the youngest, I think!)—I feel an incredible sense of hope. Our thriving seniors may hold the key to understanding what helps them live longer, healthier lives compared to the heroes we’ve lost.

This design honors all of our heroes—past and present.

And the added line, “Together for the Goldens,” speaks directly to this amazing community. Fourteen years in, and we’re still here—supporting one another, celebrating the breed, grieving together, and building something truly special.

Once finalized, this design will be available on my usual garments—and maybe a few new ones, like the knit I shared earlier. 👀

My Port Authority 1/4" zip knit arrived. The best description is that it feels like a medium weight, stretchy knit. It reminds me of some of my Tek exercise jackets, but it's a slippery knit (polyester/ spandex blend) compared to my cotton pull overs and zip ups. I like it. Need to see how well it stitches, now!

Happy Almost-End-of-Winter everyone! Oh my goodness, it's been a bumpy start to 2026 for this old girl. This year started with 2 Celebration of Life services for two very loved people in my world - my Mother-in-Law, Evelyn and my dear friend, Bertha. After attending these two services, I ended up quite ill. Germs - who wants them, anyway!

For those who didn't know, I missed the better part of February as I contracted both Bronchitis and Pneumonia and went into acute hypoxemic respiratory distress (2/2). Suffice it to say, it's definitely left me a bit weaker after about 27 days of illness, steroids and antibiotics. But I am on the mend and ready to get back to embroidering a few select pieces.

Just as the rest of life was put on hold, so was my back Physical Therapy and exercise journey. That'll all start back up at the end of March as it's going to take me a bit to get myself back where I had been before I got so sick.

To give you an update on my designing - late last year, I actually put together my 2026 - 14 Year Anniversary design for our 3000 GRLS Hero pups. I need to test it out, still, but I'm confident it'll be a winner. Like my other designs, you'll have the opportunity to add your hero(es) name(s) and number(s). I'll likely get the my big girl machine turned on in the next week or so as I continue to recover from this double lung infection.

Here's one of the new pieces I'm entertaining for this new design. I am still looking for the jacket posted last year. Unfortunately, I found the sizing unacceptable on my typically reliable Port Authority jackets. I have no timeline on those at this time. What do you think of this quarter-zip knit ladies' pull over piece?

I think it looks great for a lighter cover up as we head into spring! Hoping to have something updated on the website by end of March. Feel free to nudge me along as I'm moving a bit slow these days.

Hi everyone!

I can't believe we're already into the holiday season. While I'm easing back into the studio, I am offering a limited set of products. I'm still figuring out what to do with the print side of my business. Between my favorite (best!) vendor that provided all of my sublimation blanks changing hands last spring (2024!), I've had a hard time finding a suitable replacement with the quality items I expect.

To provide a hooded jacket update, I am still looking for that perfect hooded shell. I brought in a couple of sizes of the Port Authority style I really liked, only to find that I (and my customers) would have to upsize at LEAST 2 sizes. I'm not even convinced 2 extra sizes would work. The cut is different on this style for some unknown reason. I continue to search for the perfect garment.

I did, however, find a nice men's hooded soft shell jacket. If there's any interest in me adding this jacket to my line up, please let me know. It comes in 3 color combinations - Mineral Green, Black, and Charcoal - each color has an accent color on the sleeves and pockets (as seen in the photo). Base price on this embroidered piece would be around $100.

I appreciate all the notes and messages I've received during my hiatus. I AM feeling much better. I continue to do my daily PT in house and see my Physical Therapy team once a week. Plus, I'm continue to push with my Personal Trainer to strengthen my core - a significant piece of my back strengthing. I am hoping to be back to full studio speed sometime next year.

For those of you who traditionally shop my website but don't see your holiday favorites (hand towels, etc.), please drop me a message and I'll let you know what options are available.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hello, Hello Everyone!

It's been a minute since I last updated on my shop. Summer has disappeared in what seems like just a minute. Fall is in full swing in Berkeley Springs, trees changing, leaves fall, and chilly weather these past few weeks.

I am loving my Port Authority Shell jacket and vests in this cooler weather. However, I found that on those cooler, misty mornings, I really missed having a hood to keep my head from getting damp. As a result, I am thinking these Port Authority Ladies' cut Hooded Core Shells might be a nice item to bring in for the Fall/Winter weather. The base cost on these jackets is a little pricier. I suspect my price on these would likely be close to $100 once embroidered.

Please let me know if there's any interest here in bringing these gorgeous, stylish jackets into my collection.

Hard to believe we are almost to the end of September. I still don't know where this year went as it simply flew by!

I am still entertaining different options for moving forward with my business. Tarriffs are starting to rear their ugly heads in all of my business areas - embroidery, print, and hand-made goods. I'm seeing increases anywhere from 5% to 25%, depending on where the base products are created. I will be making some decisions in the next few weeks to come. Stay tuned here!

On a personal note, I am still aggressively working on minimizing issues with my back - actively attending my PT sessions and DOING my PT at home, continued work with my personal trainer, and seeing all the specialists to continue with aggressive treatments for my back. A strained hamstring has set me back a little in my walking, but this next week should be much better.

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Just touching base with my friends to let you know that yes, I am alive. I did survive the wedding, but it's taking me much longer to get the things I'd had planned for July completed. Soooo, giving you the heads up, I may extend this little hiatus into August.

I am considering different options for how I want to move forward, what services I want to keep offering, what personalized styles, and the like. I'm dealing with some additional issues (ongoing) with my back. So I know there will be some time away from the home front to continue to pursue answers and relief.

Also, if you wanted one of the embroidered tanks I showed off prior to the wedding, drop your name here. I think I remember two people who wanted one before summer is up - but I figured I'd mention it again.

For attention and so I don't lose this post - here's a pic of me from Samantha and Brandon's wedding. I'm being walked down the aisle to my seat by Pat Scales, who is part of our extended family. He is like a son to me. Pat is the husband of my daughter's best friend and matron of honor, Brandie. I am blessed beyond measure with all the fine "Framily" members who have stepped in and stepped up in George's absence. I miss him terribly, but the framily members, like Pat, always help.

I'd need a lot of folks interested for me to take a break from, well, taking a break! (Shirt details: Gildan ladies soft style tank, pricing for this shirt with design, $38 plus shipping(free shipping for orders over $100).

Here's a teaser post... it was a bit chilly this morning on my dog walks, yes multiple walks, so I threw on my soft shell sample. These light weight soft shells are perfect for chilly days. I'll be putting these on my website while I'm on my hiatus. These soft shells are the "sister" pieces to the soft shell vests. Same color palette (blue, black, charcoal, and a creamy color). I love the way it feels with the fleece lining. Good zip pockets as well.

Thank you to everyone who supported my business and fundraising items for the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. Since my business is officially on hiatus until July 31st, I thought I would take the opportunity to do my calculations and make my donations to the GRLS today. I'm happy to announce a donation in the amount of $250 dollars has been made directly to the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study PLUS a matching $250 will be made! (I did cover the processing costs for this donation as well.).

Thank you, everyone, who loves my GRLS gear, who wears it proudly and continues to share "the good golden word", as I say, about the study and its relevance and importance to our pups as well as future canine generations. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Hug your pups and enjoy your summer!!

Deb

PS - stay tuned to my page. I'll be figuring out some new designs, new ideas, and sharing some fan-favorites throughout the month of July!!
