The Taleless Dog Booksellers We are a small, locally-owned, neighborhood bookstore, selling new books of all kinds. We've had this ongoing conversation for probably twenty years or more.

Our story:
In a galaxy far, far away (in a little town called Louisville), my husband and I used to talk about owning a bookstore. We used to hang out in our favorite local coffee shop and dream of knocking a hole in the wall and having a bookstore next door. We both have always had a love for books. I can remember being 4 years old and getting my Weekly Reader in the mail! And I remember watching

the Electric Company and Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street, and I remember everything seemed to revolve around reading, learning new words, and books. It opened up new worlds. I realized this even as a child. We both have similar childhood memories. I do love to read. But I also just simply love books. Physical books. I love everything about them. I love the way they feel, the way they smell. I love the art on the cover and whether it's a glossy cover or a matte cover. I just love books. I never moved to electronic books of any kind. I've never read a book on kindle. I can't really even do audio books (can anyone say DISTRACTED?). I only do books. REAL books. So, our bookstore is going to sell books. The kind you hold in your hand. We are making this as tech-free as we possibly can. We want to give people a place to escape to a galaxy far, far away. We are going back to old-fashioned customer service. The service will be as good as the books. That's our promise to you. You want a book we don't have? We'll get it for you. And the Sunshine Ballard Cottage was the perfect place - cozy, warm. It's a space that feels like you're getting a big hug - so much history there.... so many stories. So, here we go! We hope you'll join us on this bookstore journey.

Owning a bookstore was always our dream — but it had to be the absolutely perfect space. A small independently-owned bookstore required a magical space. Not just any space would do.
Until the Sunshine Ballard building became available, the idea of opening a bookstore in Berea hadn’t even crossed our minds. But the moment we stepped into that 104-year-old beauty — full of history, charm and character, we knew this was the place.
Three years later, when our chapter closed, my biggest hope was that someone else would feel that same magic and continue what we started.
Nora agreed.
During your final visits, many of you heard us say,
“Be patient… we have a good feeling.”
And we meant it. Nora meant it. And she’s usually right about these things.
Now we finally get to share the news:
YES — a new bookstore is coming to Berea!
The magic continues, and Nora wholeheartedly approves.
