Well, this is good stuff! Anthony Hans and I started recording this record in 2014, back before the 2nd room we converted into a studio was to be converted into a nursery and bedroom for J.T. Fremont's first daughter!
We got Charlie Roth Music to help with some vocals, guitar and harmonica over a weekend session when he was in the area. That was a peak for engineering on my end. Even though he is a local dude, I still think Jake and I were a bit star struck, and he has become a good friend over the years.
We picked at the record, building them up, tearing them down, reconstructing them, emailed files off to Brenna Richter back in our Disc Mill Records era and I believe she was still at IPR The Institute of Production & Recording, my old stomping grounds!
Finally, around 2021, I brought everything into a new computer fitted with Harrison MixBuss and we "finished" it. I say "finished" because the record became more like a painting that we could never fully put down. Last summer, when I got the archive back online and started asking people about hosting some goodies from our area of West Central Minnesota, J.T. spoke up and said it was time to finally release this album.
There's a lot of soul, a lot of experiments, a lot of stories, and a ton of love jammed into these 12 tracks. I sincerely hope you all enjoy it, and want to thank J.T. for the nudge to get it off my hard drive and into the universe.
