We’re honored to be featured in this month’s issue of Bee Culture magazine. 🐝

The article highlights our AAC Beehive design and our partnership with Save the Bee to support honeybee survival through innovation and research.

From insulated autoclaved aerated concrete construction to donating two hives, including one placed at Oregon State University’s Honey Bee Lab, this recognition reflects our mission to create the best beehive possible for a healthier honeybee environment.

Thank you to Save the Bee for your continued partnership in protecting pollinators and advancing apiary innovation.

Together, we’re building better homes for bees.

🐝🌍 Happy World Honey Bee Day! 🌼

Today, we celebrate the world’s hardest working pollinators, the honey bees. From the food on our tables to the flowers in our gardens, their impact is everywhere.

At Shelley Hive Co., we’re proud to support these essential creatures with innovative, sustainable hives made from Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC), designed to protect bees in all seasons, reduce stress, and promote long-term bee survival.

Let’s keep working with nature, not against it.

✅ No maintenance
✅ Insulated and mold-resistant
✅ Built for the bees, backed by science

📊 Hive Stability in Action – Humidity Matters! 🐝

Here in Bend, Oregon, we put our AAC Beehive to the test, and the results speak for themselves.

🔶 The orange line shows the stable humidity inside the hive, maintained around 50–55%.
⚫ The dotted line shows wild swings in outdoor humidity, ranging from below 20% to over 90%.

Why does this matter?
🌡️ Consistent humidity is crucial for healthy brood development and bee survival.
💨 Our AAC hive provides insulation and breathability to keep conditions steady, and the bees do their part too, ventilating the hive as needed to maintain ideal humidity levels.

No mold. No rot. No stress for your bees.
That’s the power of a collaboration between bees and their hive.

🐝💔 Bee Populations Are Declining—Here’s How You Can Help

Did you know that global bee populations are in serious decline? Loss of habitat, overuse of pesticides, climate change, and disease are threatening the very pollinators that keep our ecosystems thriving and our food growing.

At Shelley Hive Co., we’re working to change that—one insulated, low-maintenance AAC Beehive at a time. But we can’t do it alone. Here's how you can help support the bees:

🌼 Plant pollinator-friendly flowers (think lavender, clover, and native wildflowers)
🚫 Avoid pesticides and herbicides in your yard
🏡 Support sustainable, bee-safe products and practices
📦 Join the Bee-Keepers and Bee the Change with SAVE the BEE
💚 Spread the word about pollinator protection

Together, we can protect the bees that protect our planet. 🐝🌍

We’re on a mission to help bees and humans thrive. Whether it’s planting pollinator habitat, funding research, or inspiring thousands to love and protect bees, Save the Bee is committed to helping bees continue their important work in our world.

Proof in the Numbers: AAC Beehive vs. Traditional Hive 🐝🌡️

Yesterday morning at 5:30 AM, with an outside temperature of just 34°F:

Wooden Hive (Langstroth): 67.9°F, 74% humidity
AAC Hive: 96.7°F, 64% humidity

Even on a chilly morning, our AAC Beehive held a warm, stable environment—ideal for brood health and colony survival. Less energy spent by the bees means a healthier, stronger hive!

Real results. Real difference. Built for the bees. 🛡️🐝
