On July 24th, 2025 the spot price of silver was $39 an ounce and the spot price of gold was $3361. I made a post saying, who knows where silver will be in a year. Less than 8 months later, we are setting at over $80 an ounce for silver and over $5000 an ounce for gold (and that wasn’t even the high for either). Any predictions on what will happen this year with the price of gold and silver?

The American Women Quarters Program is a series of quarters featuring notable women in U.S. history, commemorating the centennial of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. The obverse features a portrait of George Washington, which was originally submitted in 1931. Jovita Idar is one of the women featured on the reverse of the American Women quarters.

It has been brought to my attention that the Jovita Idar quarters are rare and/or an error coin because the inscription on front is minted “In Cod We Trust” instead of “In God We Trust”. The G in God was the designers choice and is in fact a stylized G not an error at all. All the American Women series quarters have this same stylized G. There are billions of these quarters that were minted. They are not rare nor are they an error, despite what sellers on eBay state and despite what these sellers list them for on eBay. They are worth a quarter.

Silver and gold have been going up steadily since I opened up in February of 2023. Silver was setting at about $22 an ounce while spot gold price was $1900 per ounce at that time. Today silver is at almost $39 an ounce and gold is $3361. I just purchased rolls of 1oz American Silver Eagles. Stop by to purchase Silver Eagles at Emilson’ Coin Shop for $5 over spot. Buy individual coins or buy by the roll. Don't miss out! Who knows where silver will be in another year!

Produced by the Austrian Mint, the 1oz silver Philharmonic coin features a design that honors Austria’s musical heritage and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The obverse of the coin has an image of the Great Organ of the Golden Hall in Vienna’s Musikverein while the reverse depicts an assortment of musical instruments. Referred to as the quarter eagle, the $2.50 Indian Head gold coin was designed by Bella Lyon Pratt. The story begins with Theodore Roosevelt, who took interest in changing the design of coins to reflect the power, technology, and wealth of the United States. The assumption was that Augustus Saint-Gaudens would be commissioned to design the coin but unfortunately he died of cancer. Sculptor Bella Lyon Pratt was chosen to design the coin. She designed a coin that features a striking depiction of a Native American chief in full headress on the obverse, and an eagle on the reverse. Unlike traditional coins with raised relief features, the Indian Head featured a unique incuse design- where the images and inscriptions are sunken below the surface of the coin, instead of raised. This made the coin stand out among other coins of the time and added to its allure. Come pick up yours today, starting at $400.

The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most collected coins in the United States. Designed by George T. Morgan, they were struck every year from 1878 to 1904 and then again in 1921. On the obverse, this coin features Liberty facing left, hair in a Phrygian cap. And on the reverse is the symbol of our country, the eagle, with wings spread holding an olive branch in one talon and three arrows in the other talon. This coin is 90% silver with a net weight of .77344 oz of pure silver. Come in and check out the huge selection of Morgan silver dollars at Emilson’s Coin Shop located in downtown Belton.

“Many consider the twenty dollar gold piece designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens to be the most beautiful coin in the United States.” On the obverse is Lady Liberty striding forward, with torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Rays of light burst from behind this angelic figure. On the reverse is our nation’s symbol, the eagle, flying across the sunlit sky. These coins were struck from 1907 to 1933. And although the mint no longer makes this gold coin (almost an oz at .96750), I have a few magnificent St. Gaudens double eagles at the shop waiting for you.
