CLOSED TODAY MARCH 3, OPEN TOMORROW
Hello, friends. As some of you may already know, my family and I recently lost our home to a house fire. We are alright as we were out of town when the incident occurred.
But I’m not making this post to talk about our house. I’m making it to talk about you, our community, and how so very overwhelmed with gratitude we are for you. While this is our first post on social media regarding the fire, we have already been receiving an immense amount of support from friends, families, and neighbors. We’re honestly having a hard time comprehending it all, but it is so beautiful to feel so loved by y’all. Thank you a million times over.
When I (Virginia) decided to open the candy shop, my decision wasn’t a business-based decision. Maybe that’s foolish, but my goal wasn’t to generate income. It was to generate community. I wanted a place where people could find simple joys, and so I filled my shop with all sorts of joyful things. And I get to see the benefits of that decision every time someone walks into my shop and their eyes light up. There’s not much in this world that makes me happier, honestly.
And the cherry on top is that I get to do this in Belton, TX. We moved to Belton from Austin because it seemed like a great place to raise a family. And it is! Though there are times I’ve struggled with the challenges of living in a small town, I’ve found the same things that make it challenging also make it wonderful. For example, news travels fast here - for better or for worse. And we got to witness the “for better” aspect (no, the “for best” aspect) when a handful of Beltonians put the word out that we needed help. The response was instantaneous and mighty. We are beside ourselves to see such generosity from the community we love. And again, we thank you. ❤️
