Hello all:) I would like to restore our garage door (built 1929). I don’t have any refernce of what it could have looked liked originally. The wood is in poor condition in certain areas, and the circles are painted over metal. I appreciate all advice

Is there anything I can do to old linoleum to preserve or restore it? I only have some scrap pieces and they are somewhat brittle. I would love to find a way to use it, even if just to line a closet or something

What wood sealer would be best for doors and baseboard trim; would it also be good for stairs and the banister? Our floors came presealed so we don’t need options for that.
Looking for something water based so it doesn’t turn color over time; low voc and green guard would be great.

I’ve noticed quite a lot of you knowledgeable rock stars on here are great at defining architectural styles - could you help me out, too? Our Church conversion feels like she has a few influences, so I can’t really put my finger on one unified style - any thoughts? She’s a ex-Lutheran, built in 1914.

Hi! Recently closed on a 1929 bungalow. There is a wood burning brick fireplace in the living room. I love brick but not a fan of the yellowish tone. Is that a discoloration or stain that I could remove? The brick on the outside is the same fireplace. Any way to update brick color *without* painting? I’ve included some inspo brick tones. The one with a stove cap is actually in the basement. Thanks!

We continue to find craziness in our house. Lol! Take note of the lower outlet that has something plugged into it. After looking very close, it turned out the wire from that plug in is running to the back of the upper plug.

Trying to figure out how to trim out the doorway to the right. The hallway arch runs into it and the other side of it is also very skinny (maybe 1.5-2 inches) mainly not sure what to do where the trim runs into the arch. Ideas? Pics please!

Hi everyone! I’d love some opinions on dating this old house we have on our cattle property in New South Wales, Australia.
We know it hasn’t been looked after over the last 50+ years and desperately want to save it while being sympathetic to its heritage.
I think it might be a mid-Victorian although it’s hard to tell without the external features remaining (there was definitely a veranda around two sides based off the buried brick we’ve found). We also think that the kitchen is not original (last photo) and that the original house ran from where the arch is and to the rooms off the hallway. All the wood (floors, ceiling and skirting) is red cedar though sadly the previous owners pulled out most of the skirting, both mantels and the built in cabinetry for other farm jobs.
We’d love your opinion on dating this house as well as any tips you might have for cleaning up and preserving the brick. Most of it needs repointing and the brick itself was made onsite so is quite fragile and porous. We live in a very wet and windy part of NSW so preserving the house from the elements is a very high priority.
Looking forward to hearing everyone’s opinions!
