If the Topdressing compost looks exceptionally thick in one area or another, just remember, it's done with intention. Please refrain from raking it thin after I drive away.

Building bridges for the grass to cross over is actually the #1 strategy for filling in the collapsed gaps.
On many occassions the homeowner forgets just how bad the lawn was before the recovery process began.
"Adam- you applied the dirt too heavily & now the underlying grass is dead"

Where in reality, due to the grass already being dead in that space I was forced to apply the dirt heavily. Bridge building is the task at hand.
The lawn didn't die off overnight so naturally it's not going to fill-in overnight.

When your 15 year old child asks:

"Dad- where do Common Bermuda Lawns come from?"

As awkward as it may be, you try your best to offer a detailed description. I decided to resort to a visual but not before starting with the number one disclaimer:

"Son- know this first, it's not from the mowing service having an established relationship with the property, it has nothing to do with that".

I go on to eloaborate how now that we've finally seen significant rainfall overnight, Noah's going to witness the birth of many new Common Bermuda lawns.
I trust he'll repeat his original question many times over moving forward. I'll also remind him how the rain is also going to put Chinch Bugs into hyperdrive as they ravage ProVista St. Augustine grass from now through September.
