......and this is why I'm closing the shop
You may or may not know, In November 2024, I had emergency back surgery because I woke up one morning and couldn't walk. I spent a month in the hospital doing rehab. Not long ago, I was finally able to graduate to walking with a cane. I was still numb from the waist down, but was able to get around. I haven't been able to get into my shop to do any grip work for about 18 months.
About a month ago, I went to the ER because I thought I had kidney stones or a uti. After some imaging, it turns out I do have a couple small kidney stones, but they also found new compression fractures in my back. The MRI showed at abnormality in my bone marrow where the 2024 surgery was, so they set up a PET scan. Two weeks ago I saw an oncologist and found out that I have metastatic prostate cancer. It is in the bone and lymph nodes.
Since Sunday, I have gone from walking with a cane to needing my walker again. As long as I'm sitting or laying, there is little to no pain. When I walk, the pain is substantial.
I had the chemo port installed today. Also a lymph node biopsy. Chemo is scheduled to start in a month.
