AXIAL GOES FULL-SIZE ATTITUDE WITH THE NEW SCX10 III MOTOBILT WAYPOINT JEEP JT GLADIATOR
Axial has a new SCX10 III on the way, and this one looks like it drove straight out of a full-size off-road shop.
The new Axial SCX10 III Motobilt Waypoint Jeep JT Gladiator 4X4 RTR recreates Motobilt’s aggressive Waypoint Gladiator build in 1/10 scale, combining serious trail hardware with a long list of scale details.
The body features a bobbed rear bed, Motobilt front and rear bumpers, Baja Designs lighting, inner fender wells, a scale CO2 tank and Hi-Lift jack. Underneath, Axial adds officially licensed KMC Gr***de beadlock wheels wrapped in Maxxis Trepador tires.
The SCX10 III chassis brings the performance side of the package with AR45 straight axles, aluminum oil-filled shocks, stainless-steel suspension links, a 13.9-inch wheelbase and an all-metal-geared transmission.
One of the bigger features is the factory-installed dig system, operated from the third channel of the included Spektrum SLT3 transmitter. Dig locks the rear drivetrain while continuing to power the front wheels, allowing the truck to pivot much tighter on technical terrain.
Power comes from an Axial Slick Rock 35-turn brushed motor and Spektrum Firma 40A waterproof ESC, with a Spektrum S683 steering servo and separate micro servo controlling the dig function.
Axial currently has the new Waypoint Gladiator listed for release in September 2026, and RC Driver also reported the new model on August 14, confirming the announcement outside Axial’s own release.
This one hits a pretty good balance between a highly detailed scale build and an RTR crawler that is actually intended to get dirty.
Hot Laps Hobby Shop will be watching availability as the September release approaches. If the new Waypoint Gladiator has your attention, stop by Hot Laps Hobby Shop at 6282 Phelan Blvd in Beaumont, call 409-225-5103, or visit hotlapshobbyshop.com and we’ll be glad to help with availability, batteries, chargers and anything else you need to get it trail-ready.
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Does the Motobilt Waypoint treatment make this one of the best-looking SCX10 III releases yet, or would you rather start with a more basic crawler and build your own custom trail rig?
