3 SIGNS YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR MOWER BLADE TO
ROB’S SHARP SHOP
To get a great cut and healthy-looking lawn, it is important to frequently have your mower blade sharpened at Rob’s Sharp Shop. Normally, one sharpening at the start of mowing season and one around the middle is all that’s needed (unless hitting stray debris). With a few tricks, you can develop a trained eye and know when your blade needs to go to Rob’s Sharp Shop to keep it up to par all season.
1. Most obvious, inspect the blade itself. It can usually be saved with regular sharpening at Rob’s Sharp Shop, so it’s important to look for chips or dents in the cutting edge. Irregularities in blades are prone to tear grass rather than making that clean cut. Sand, dirt, and other debris can wear down the blade, causing the metal to weaken and become paper-thin. If you see this, replace the blade at once to avoid breakage, that could cause the blade to fly apart, possibly injuring you or other bystanders.
2. Look for variations in your lawn. When your blade is sharp, your grass should cut at the same height with one pass. If your making multiple passes to compensate for missed patches, a dull blade may be the culprit and needs to go to Rob’s Sharp Shop.
3. Closely inspect the tips of your grass blades. Torn tips can reduce your lawns health, causing it to lose that lush green color, to an unhealthy shade of brown. If they’re torn and not cleanly sliced, it’s time to take your blade to Rob’s Sharp Shop.
Paying close attention to your lawn and mower will help in deciding when to take your blade to Rob’s Sharp Shop. Lastly, remember, taking your blades to Rob’s Sharp Shop regularly, it’ll cut beautifully every time.
