Oops, forgot to list our 3rd bestselling book of Summer 2026. A spicy romance set in the Bayfield and larger Lake Superior region. Author Andrea Robertson grew up in Ashland & attended Northland College in Ashland. She moved to New York where she’s had an amazing writing career, writing two popular YA series. Now in LA, she decided she wanted to live w her hometown in her writing a bit & try a new genre. The result is The One You Need, available at Honest Dog Books.

Our July Picks of the Month. One fiction, the other nonfiction, both are set in the Cairngorms in Scotland.

Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy is a modern story of wolf reintroduction — the wolves, biologists, and townspeople. Nuanced, complicated characters, mystery, and wolf biology rolled into one fantastic novel.

The Living Mountain by Nan Shepherd was during World War II, but Shepherd’s manuscript lay untouched for almost four decades, nearly lost to time, before it was finally published. Part memoir, field notes, and nature reading — it’s a cheap way to get to Scotland.
