Hello D E C E M B E R! We would like to re-introduce to you the Brains Behind Our Brand!

Claire Aillet began her career as a business owner in 2012 when she opened her salon and boutique. Inheriting her business bone from her grandmother, who taught her how to make a sale and pick out beautiful things from a young age. In 2018, she worked in her boutique and combed through every business course on the internet to learn how to bring new traffic into her storefront.

The day-to-day tasks of a retail owner are grueling, but nothing is more intense than searching the internet for the secret to building a successful retail store.

One day in May of 2018, Claire decided to take a break and answer customers inquiring about the likelihood of getting their package delivered on her way home. She ordered tacos from a local meal delivery app and answered them back. At that moment, destiny whispered, ‘Delivery app for boutiques’ in her ear. Since that day, she has not looked back. She has dedicated her entire existence to Shop The Area’s growth, even enrolling in college with a double major in economics and business management. Psssst! Looking forward to graduating from LSU in 2025 with two bachelor’s degrees.

Though this has been an empowering journey, it has also been humbling. She can now say Shop The Area is fully operational in the Baton Rouge area, with many more opportunities in major cities on the horizon. We offer customer subscriptions, store memberships, a social shopping platform, a multi-vendor marketplace, quarterly magazine.

In 2023, Claire will be releasing her book, Boutique Economics: The Store Owner Textbook on Consumer Decision-Making, where she takes basic microeconomic concepts learned in college business classes and deliver them in a suitable format for boutique owners to understand and apply them in their own business. Our brand is growing, and we cannot wait to share it with the world.
