Look guys, I'm a Who Dat for life, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not pulling for the Jaguars this season. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne have to be one of the most exciting young duos going into the season.
I really loved the way the Jaguars attacked the offseason. They started by hiring Super Bowl winning head coach Doug Pederson. Under Doug Pederson and offensive coordinator Press Taylor, who has followed Pederson to Jacksonville, The 2017 Super Bowl Champion Eagles were a highly effective offense, ranking 3rd in rushing and 13th in passing.
What also has me optimistic with the coaching staff is the addition of All Time Funny Name Great Jim Bob Cooter as passing game coordinator, who had a good run as offensive coordinator with Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.
Offensively, the Jaguars upgraded their pass catching arsenal by being incredibly aggressive, signing Christian Kirk to a monster 4 year $84M deal, Zay Jones to an impressive 3 year $24M year, and Evan Engram on a 1 year $9M deal.
In the draft, they spent 5 of their 7 picks, including the first overall pick on the defense.
It really seems like football is going to be exciting this year in Jacksonville. It may not immediately translate into the wins and loss column, but the experience that these players will gain over the season under an experienced coach seems much more valuable. It's going to be exciting to see how Trevor Lawrence performs this year. With Etienne healthy and a crew of explosive pass catchers, it really seems like the Jaguars ceiling is as high as Trevor Lawrence can reach. I'm super excited to see how far he takes them!
