August. You’ve been really hot and dry so far, and it feels as though you’re trying to bring us down. 😰 There are so many flowers that are done at this point in the season, which means more and more areas of my backyard are looking downright pitiful… But there’s still hope!

I have fresh blooms that are thriving, and that’s where I’m trying to keep my focus. As I’ve talked with other flower farmers dealing with these same feelings, one shared a nugget of wisdom that really resonated with me: We can’t beat ourselves up for things we cannot control.

Isn’t that the truth for so many areas of our lives?

So today, I hope we can focus on the good, strive to do better in the areas of our lives that we can control, and rest in the fact that God IS in control! 🙌🏻

Have you ever just stopped at the end of the day and thought, “Wow… I am so blessed”? And felt completely blown away by all that God has given you? 🤍

I’ve noticed that when I’m spending more time in God’s Word, focused on Him, and in prayer, I see those blessings so much more clearly. But when I focus on the negative, it’s easy to let the hard things overshadow all the good.

Lately, I’ve been noticing this in my garden. I’ve been pulling out the old, tired flowers while noticing the fresh blooms coming in. And at this point in the summer, there are definitely more areas that aren’t thriving than I’d like to see! 😂 It’s easy to focus on those areas instead of all the beauty growing right in front of me.

But tonight, I got to plant seedlings and pick sunflowers with my youngest, and I found myself thinking about just how blessed I am. 🌻

Maybe life is like that, too. Sometimes we focus so much on what needs tending to that we miss what God is already growing.

Tonight, I’m choosing to slow down, notice the blooms, cherish the little moments, and be thankful for the beauty He’s given me.❤️

Now that you brought home your beautiful bouquet…here are some tips to help them last as long as possible.💐

✂️ Trim stems at a 45° angle before placing them in water.

🌿 Remove any foliage below the water line to help prevent bacteria growth.

💧 Change the water every 1–2 days, rinse your vase, retrim stems, and add fresh floral food.

☀️ Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, heat, and fruit to help them last longer.

A little care goes a long way in helping your flowers last longer!💐

We had the best time at our Backyard Young Growers Club U-Pick last night! 🌼💛

Thank you to everyone who came! It was so special seeing everyone picking blooms, visiting, and making memories together. And to top it all off, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! 🙌🏻

One Young Growers Club member even took me on a tour around the yard, pointing out and talking to me about all the flowers. I loved that! 🥹

Before everyone left, I asked another Young Growers Club member if he had fun and told him I hoped he could come back again. He asked, “Are you doing the Young Growers Club next year?” I said, “Yes!” He smiled and replied, “Well then, we’ll be there!” 💛

Thank you all for making it such a special evening. We can’t wait to do it again!💕💐
