An army veteran is now the proud owner of a brand new tractor, and he didn’t have to spend a penny.

On Thursday, Sept. 4 at 3:20 PM, retired Vermont Army National Guard veteran Rob Niles received a brand-new Kubota L02 compact tractor through Kubota’s Geared to Give program!

Rob served 26 years with deployments to Iraq & Afghanistan and now operates Wild Woods Maple, a certified organic, bird-friendly maple sugaring business in East Hardwick, VT.

The Geared to Give program is a partnership between Kubota Tractor Corporation and the Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC). FVC is the nation’s largest nonprofit assisting service members and veterans as they transition into farming and ranching careers. Since 2009, FVC has provided grants, training, and the nationally recognized Homegrown by Heroes label, helping veterans turn their service into sustainable agricultural businesses.

Since its launch in 2015, Geared to Give has donated more than $1 million and 51 pieces of Kubota equipment to farmer veterans nationwide — giving them the tools to serve their communities once again.

At Champlain Valley Equipment (CVE), we are proud to deliver Rob’s tractor locally. Military service runs deep here — CEO Brian Carpenter served a distinguished military career, and today CVE employs 19 former service members. Paired with our team’s agricultural roots, CVE aligns perfectly with the mission of Geared to Give.
