Hey friends! We did something very big today!
I have written a thousand different things to say, and nothing really measures up to how special today is.

Today, we bought our building. 🥹
Marigolds has a forever home, and we have some BIG plans for this place. Both downstairs & upstairs 😉 (but that’s for another time, we need a breather)

But this moment belongs to all of us. And most importantly to all of our friends, and to everyone who helped get us here!

I’ve said it before, but Katie and I are such a small part of what makes Marigolds special.

So a massive thank you to the readers, who believe in a not so little dream.

Good afternoon friends
🎃 A little behind the scenes of what we’ve been up to…

We’re carving a giant pumpkin for Halloweentown Square. Aka the center of the shop🎃

Do I know exactly what I’m doing?
No.
Do I have a vision?
Absolutely.

Do I currently have 18 giant blocks of foam sitting around waiting to become a pumpkin?
Unfortunately, yes.
So begins the great Marigolds pumpkin project. I’ll be posting updates as we go because if we’re going to attempt something this ambitious, you all might as well watch it happen.

Hi there Friends !!!
We’ve been a little quiet around here lately, and there is a very good reason for it.

August is our planning month at Marigolds, which means Katie and I have been tucked away behind the scenes working on fall, holiday ordering, events, displays, books, and approximately one million tiny things that somehow need to happen before September.

So while social media has been a little quieter, our brains have been VERY busy.

We’ve been working hard to make the rest of the year at Marigolds something really special, and we cannot wait to start showing you what we’ve been dreaming up.

I’ve always thought of D.O.B. less as a “book review” and more as a friend telling a friend, “You need to read this. Here’s why.”

I want to get a little deeper with these. More about the characters. The writing. The pacing. The things that made me completely lose my mind. The things that worked for me and the things that didn’t. The very specific reasons I think YOU might love a book. All without accidentally telling you the entire plot. 😂 I even made flashcards and notes to help me remember all the things!

We still want what you are reading drinking and all the fun things, this is just my attempt to get better for all of you!! Theres nothing better than getting to be a little piece of your reading journey!

I hope your first week back to school schedule living has gone smoothly!!

PSA: A little change to our Saturday plans! 🌿
We’ll be closing at 3 PM today instead of 5 PM so we can spend the afternoon doing a little tidying, organizing, and inventory magic around the shop.

We’re choosing to do a little now rather than a lot later because fall is coming, and we have a feeling it’s going to be a wonderfully busy one. 🍂📚
We’ll be counting books, straightening shelves, making lists, and getting Marigolds ready for the season ahead.

And to all of the brave parents out there tackling tax free weekend and back to school shopping today...
Godspeed. 😂🫡
May the parking lots be kind, the fitting rooms be available, and everyone agree on a pair of shoes before closing time, may the Shoe Carnival wheel of childhood fortune somehow spin in your favor. ( I am hoping at least one person understands this reference)

At Marigolds, August is our quiet little bridge between seasons.

While summer is winding down, Katie and I are putting the finishing touches on our fall book orders, planning events, dreaming up displays, and filling the shelves for September 1, when fall officially begins around here and we are decked out for spooky season.

Good Morning to our sweet friends!!
August has always felt like the final chapter of summer for us.

The mornings grow a little quieter. School supplies find their way onto kitchen tables. Calendars begin to fill up and quickly, and those long, unhurried afternoons slowly give way to new routines and plans.

As summer draws to a close and a new school year begins, we'd love to hear from you.
What season always feels the most like home? Are you holding onto every last bit of summer, looking forward to fresh notebooks and new beginnings, or quietly counting down the days until autumn arrives? ( I think you know where we stand with that ;) )
