Your cutting mat does more than protect your table.

A good self-healing mat helps your rotary blade last longer, protects your cutting surface, and gives you the accuracy you need for clean cuts.

One tip that surprises a lot of quilters?

Rotate your mat regularly instead of always cutting in the same spot. It helps your mat wear more evenly and keeps it in great shape longer.

Sometimes it's the tools working behind the scenes that make the biggest difference.

🧵 Sew. Serve. Make a difference. 💜

This fall, we’re opening up the classroom at Quilter’s Hideaway on the second Friday of each month for a Community Sew Day!

Each month, we’ll come together to sew for a different organization or community project:

🪡 September 11 — Brooke’s Bag Sew Day
We’ll be making little zipper bags for Brooke’s Bags!

🇺🇸 October 9 — Patriotic Pillowcases
Help us sew patriotic pillowcases to go with our Patriotic Challenge quilts for local veterans. All pillowcases are cut and ready to sew.

💜 November 13 — Seatbelt Port Covers
We’ll be making soft seatbelt port covers for Hopestone.

🎄 December 11 — Sew Day for Concern
We’ll finish the year sewing projects to support Concern and the families they serve.

And here’s the best part: you don’t have to be an expert sewist to help!

Bring your sewing machine and sew alongside us, or simply show up and lend a hand. There will be plenty to do!

✂️ Supplies will be provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own.
🧵 All sewing levels are welcome.
💜 Come for one Sew Day or join us for all four!

Scissors have their place... but quilting isn't one of them.

If you're just getting started, a rotary cutter is one of the first tools worth investing in.

It gives you cleaner, straighter cuts, helps your pieces fit together more accurately, and saves a lot of frustration later.

One quick tip: if you ever feel like you're having to force the blade through your fabric, it's probably time for a new blade. A sharp blade is safer and makes cutting so much easier.

Small tool. Big difference.

We just unpacked Perfect Winter by Riley Blake, and it's full of the sweetest winter prints—snowmen, candy canes, cozy blues, classic reds, and an adorable panel that's just asking to become a quilt.

One of my favorite things about a new fabric collection is imagining all the different ways people will use it. One person sees a Christmas quilt. Another sees table runners, stockings, pillow covers, or gifts for family.

That's the fun of quilting—everyone starts with the same fabric and creates something completely different.
