OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
It's with a heavy heart that we announce that the Treasure Chest Thrift Store is officially closed. Since 2012 we served Barberton as much as we could, providing second hand goods at an affordable price. Over that time, we've made lifelong friends and had countess good times.
In 2018, we lost one of our founders. A good man named Paul who was the beating heart of the store, and afterwards it was never the same. He was a man who was good with his hands, repurposing and repairing furniture just to give it to someone in need.
Following COVID, we suffered more losses: such as new neighbors breaking into the building and destroying merchandise, along with other things. During the closing proceedings, an individual we trusted to help clean up the building stole over five thousand dollars in merchandise and personal items from us. Closing has come at a great personal cost, but we have no regrets about the time we spent on the corner of sixth and Tusc.
In finality, we just want to say that we're going to miss seeing the lovely people of Barberton. You guys often brought smiles to our faces, and made the day better.
We want to thank Shaun Jabber from Rocky's, his support played a huge role in our success.
Thanks to Erin Flesher and her AMAZING family that was there for us when things got really rough. You'll always be family to us 🥰
Mr Ralph Young, a long time friend of the store who passed away. A great man and a personal inspiration to many, including myself.
Belinda Fletcher for all the times she made us laugh so hard we couldn't breathe.
All of our employees over the years who helped take that store to the next level.
And lastly, you. Thank all of you for making this experience some of the best of our lives.
For the last time, we're signing off. Thanks for the years and memories.
We love you
Kim Zelenak and Joe Wiley
