TLDR: Republicans have passed beyond dangerous into scary. Vote against them while Votes still count.

Finally America Votes. 25% off C.O.U.R. & T spices. Free Choice $13.79 Jar! Can you feel the change? A page is finally turning. A new, better chapter begins.

Donald Trump ran on lowering grocery prices from day one. Donald Trump claimed the leaked 2025 Project to end our democracy, cripple our economy, and turn America’s leadership in the world over to Russia and China was all a democratic hoax. Donald Trump lied. Now we get to vote.

11.5.24 we really were asleep. We had no idea just how far Musk and the rest of the media-owning billionaires had progressed in rewiring our social media to amplify pro-Trump misinformation and drowning out actual economists, environmental scientists, and all the rest who have the knowledge we need to make good choices for our future.

11.6.24 we woke up to just how much we had lost. It’s only gotten worse since then. Until this last Tuesday in a deep red district in Pennsylvania. They had an election. The good guy won, moving the result from a 15-point win by Republicans last November to a Democratic win this week. Thank you, Pennsylvania! Thank You!!

This Tuesday it’s the State Supreme Court seat here in Wisconsin; two open US House seats in Florida; and important local races in Mississippi, Alaska, Illinois, and Nebraska. Each coming Tuesday in April there will be more elections across the country. Be ready.

Here’s our chance to let Republicans and the rest of the world know Americans don’t want America to end. That the needless chaos, and cruelty, and relentless incompetence we’ve witnessed since the inauguration is nothing like what the vast majority of us voted for.

And it’s only getting started. 11.5.24 in so many ways was like the 12.7.41 attack on America. There’s the story of the man tasked with planning that attack. On receiving praise for his overwhelming success his response was that he feared all they had achieved was waking a sleeping giant. THIS!

America’s come too far to ever go back to openly hurting all those who anyone can find a way to categorize as a minority. We aren’t going back to the 1950s, and the 1950s were never actually great for most Americans.

This past Tuesday in a strongly red district of Pennsylvania we saw the proof of what America’s made of. We’re only getting started. But there is work to do.

November 5th’s election was hard. All that Trump/Musk/Project 2025 have unleashed since the inauguration, even harder. So much cruelty. Much of the point to the cruelty is to leave those who actually care about all Americans broken. They want us to be too broken to resist, they want us to give up hope. They’ve had some success.

This week I received an exceptionally well-written email from a second generation Penzeys customer working for the state of Wisconsin, trying their best to keep Milwaukee’s homeless veterans alive. They’re struggling with how they can continue to do this without the federal VA workers Trump/Musk fired to make way for billionaires to live free from paying taxes.

A quote: “I’ve been crying a lot lately as I’ve been seeing them fired in rows, slowly not answering phone calls or emails. I worry about them and I worry about the 117 homeless veterans in Milwaukee County (current as of today) who I don’t know how I will help without them.“

Thanks. This is what people need to hear. Good people are trying their best to give back to those who’ve sacrificed so much to keep the spirit of America alive. We are the richest country in the history of the world and the richest man ever wants us to believe we can’t afford to take care of our veterans? No, just no.

But all this hurt, all the tears, all the broken promises take their toll, especially on those who care most. This Tuesday’s election is the most important event in America since 11.5.24. All things being normal, the outcome would be a landslide rejection of everything Republicans have become.

But there’s no denying many people have been so hurt by their intentional cruelty that, just like last November, they are struggling with facing anything political in this moment. Whether we can win this Tuesday comes down to getting these voters to the polls. Getting them there comes down to you.

As a cook you care. You give of yourself to care for others. That not only is respected. That makes you strong. I knew I had to write this post. Starting out I didn’t know if I had it in me. These are tough times for each of us. 799 words later I guess I did. The email about the homeless veterans was just the gift I needed. Thanks.

From here until Tuesday the job is to get out every last vote. The election is now. Pennsylvania has shown us it’s ours to win. We just have to get every voter possible to the polls. As I’ve said, you are a cook. The way you live your life brings you respect. Now’s the time to use that respect to demand those around you vote. They will listen.

If you are in Wisconsin, or Florida, or anywhere an election is happening, or know of someone who lives where an election is happening, pick up your phone and start dialing. Drive people to the polls if needed. This is no time to leave any stone unturned.

If you have no connections to Tuesday’s election, find when your next election is and get to work. With how dangerous Republicans have become to our democracy, it’s never too soon to talk voting. Thanks.

And as is our way, this is actually an ad. How far it reaches, how much we can promote it, really does come down to enough people supporting us by picking up some spices.

Two good deals right now. With just how much our home state of Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court race means to the entire country, 25% off all spices and seasonings starting with the letters C,O,U,R, & T. It’s quite the list with the majority of what you actually want on it. Check it out here: https://www.penzeys.com/shop/spices/?categoryId=204

And since halfway into planning this promotion we noticed we don’t have any spices or seasonings starting with the letter U, a free “U” (you) spice as well. With any $5 purchase your choice of an up-to-$13.79 value 1/2-cup jar of spice or seasoning. In our stores just be ready to show this post.

Online at penzeys.com, once you have $5 in additional spending just enter COURT into the apply code box at checkout and your most expensive half-cup jar up to $13.79 in value will become free. This is where I usually say: “It’s easy.” This time it is mostly easy.

If your most expensive jar is on the C,O,U,R,T list, that one won’t be the free one. If you are looking for suggestions to max out the value of this offer, Brady Street, Fox Point, and Sunny Paris are all great choices. Picking any one of these is easy. Tasty, too.

Fox Point here: https://www.penzeys.com/online-catalog/fox-point-seasoning/c-24/p-393/pd-s

And Sunny Paris here: https://www.penzeys.com/online-catalog/sunny-paris-seasoning/c-24/p-276/pd-s

Thanks for your support.

And yes, VOTE! But today voting alone isn’t enough. With the way the billionaires who own our social media have reprogrammed our world to reverberate with pro-Trump nonsense, the only way to offset the nonsense is to get everyone around you to vote as well.

Make calls. Talk to the people around you. Make sure everyone has an actual workable plan to vote. If they don’t have one, help them make one. Drive them to the polls if needed. This all matters so very much.

If we get everyone voting the message will be clear that everyone really still wants America to remain America. We want the checks and balances of three branches of government keeping each other in check. We want our veterans taken care of. We really can afford it.

If it’s only Trump loyalists voting this Tuesday, the road to the November, 2026 elections will be so very long, with so much hurt and so many tears.

No. Turn out the vote. Let today’s Republicans know what America thinks of them and force them to retreat. It is the only way forward.

Thanks for cooking, thanks for caring, thanks for supporting us,

Bill

Just had a new grandson and things slowed down on the creativity front. Now I am back home and I can get back at it again.
